If you have a Star Wars fan in the family, you’ll know that their love of a galaxy far, far away knows no bounds. My husband is a big Star Wars fan, so anything featuring Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and the rest of the gang is bound to grab his attention. Playing a few games of bingo after Christmas dinner is also something of a family tradition in our house, so this new twist on a family favourite is bound to go down well!

Bingo is one of those games that never really goes out of fashion. It’s simple to play, suitable for all ages and, best of all, doesn’t require anyone to spend hours reading a complicated instruction booklet before getting started. Just grab your bingo cards, get everyone together and let the competition begin.

The Star Wars Bingo game from Thames & Hudson, produced in collaboration with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, brings a galactic twist to the traditional bingo game. Instead of the usual 90 numbers, players need to keep their eyes peeled for 56 familiar Star Wars characters. It’s a fun change that will appeal to fans of the films, whether they’ve been following the franchise since the original trilogy or have only recently discovered the Force.

One of the things I particularly like about bingo is that it’s so easy to play and everyone from the little ones to granny can join in. Younger players will enjoy spotting their favourite characters, while older Star Wars fans can enjoy a trip down memory lane. You don’t need to be an expert on the films to join in either, making it a lovely game for the whole family.

Of course, having a Star Wars enthusiast in the house means there is always someone who takes these things rather more seriously than necessary. What should be a friendly family game can quickly turn into a battle of epic proportions. I suspect that if Darth Vader were playing, he’d probably use the Force to make sure he won. Fortunately, there are no lightsabers required, although I wouldn’t rule out a little competitive sulking if someone else gets bingo first!

With Christmas fast approaching, Star Wars Bingo would make an ideal present for both young and old. It’s a great choice for a Star Wars fan, but also a lovely gift for families who enjoy playing games together. And let’s face it, once the Christmas presents have been opened and everyone has eaten rather too much turkey, finding something to keep everyone entertained is always welcome.

Whether you’re buying for a die-hard Star Wars fan or simply looking for a fun family game, Star Wars Bingo is a great way to bring a little intergalactic fun into your home. Just be prepared for some serious competition. May the best player win!
