Edifier ES850NB Headphones

Headphones have become an everyday essential for me – whether I’m commuting, working from home or just listening to music you’ll usually see me wearing a pair. Over the years I’ve come to expect great sound quality from Edifier and their ES850NB headphones have certainly lived up to my expectations.

Listening to music is a pleasure, with Hi-Res Audio certification and 40mm titanium-coated drivers, these headphones deliver crisp, studio-grade sound and are backed by LDAC, AAC, and SBC codec support for lossless wireless performance. The sound quality, even at the highest level, is fantastic with no distortion.

The upgraded noise cancelling (up to -45dB) is brilliant too. It takes the edge off busy trains, noisy cafés, or even just background chatter at home, which makes such a big difference when I’m trying to concentrate. I’ve also noticed that calls sound sharper, the built-in AI-powered microphones filter out background noise so my voice comes across clearly, even when the world around me isn’t so quiet.

They can connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, so I can switch seamlessly between my laptop and phone without fiddling with settings — really handy if I’m listening to music and a call comes through.

The headphones are really well built and comfortable to wear, the ear cups are softly padded with memory foam and the multi angle rotation and adjustable headband make it easy to get the perfect fit. I’ve worn them for hours at a time and they never feel heavy or uncomfortable, which makes them ideal for long workdays or travelling.

The battery life is excellent, an impressive 92 hours of continuous playback in normal mode and even with noise cancelling on you’ll still get 53 hours of playtime. A quick 15 minutes charge will give an additional 11.5 hours of playtime, perfect when I’m about to leave the house and realise the battery is low!

With fantastic sound quality, excellent battery life and a comfortable fit the Edifier ES850NB headphones are an impressive all rounder and will make a great Christmas gift this year.

Edifier Comfo C Wireless Earbuds

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Having used Edifier earbuds and speakers before, I was excited to try out their latest release, the Comfo C earbuds. Unlike traditional earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, these have a unique clip-on design, wrapping over the back of the ear for a secure and comfortable fit.

At first, I was sceptical about how well they would stay in place. Their design made me wonder if they’d move around or even fall off during use. However, after trying them out I’ve found they sit incredibly securely – so much so that I can happily wear them all day without discomfort.

With up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge and three additional full charges from the case, you get around 28 hours of total playback making them perfect for holidays when recharging might not be as convenient. While battery life can vary as it depends on the setting you use I found that these estimates were about right.

Despite being an open-ear design with no noise cancellation, the sound quality is impressive. External noise can and does intrude, but I do prefer to be aware of what’s going on around me so I’ve had no issues enjoying music, radio, and podcasts whilst wearing them. The 12mm dynamic drivers deliver powerful and detailed audio, and the Edifier ConneX app allows for some customisation. I settled on the Bass Boost EQ setting, which enhances the depth and punch of the sound nicely.

The Edifier ConneX app offers a range of useful settings beyond just EQ adjustments. You can customise tap controls, prompt tones, and Bluetooth settings. One particularly interesting feature is the water drainage mode, designed to remove moisture that might find its way into the speakers. Given that these earbuds boast an IP56 water-resistance rating, it makes sense to have this feature and I don’t need to worry about wearing them in the rain.

As much as I’ve enjoyed these earbuds, I have found one issue with the wear detection feature, which pauses playback when you remove the earbuds, which seems to be  overly sensitive. Even without touching them, the earbuds sometimes detect removal, playing an alert sound (“bing”) as if they’ve been taken off. I disabled the auto-pause function in the app in the hope that this would solve it, but the alert sound remains. It’s a small but frustrating quirk, but I’m sure Edifier will address this in a future firmware update.

Overall, the Edifier Comfo C earbuds offer a great balance of comfort, sound quality, and practical features, making them a solid choice for everyday use. The secure fit and long battery life are perfect for extended wear, while the app customisation adds a personal touch to the experience. Whether you’re relaxing at home, commuting, or traveling, the Comfo C earbuds are a reliable companion.

Edifier MS50A Speaker

The MS50A is a high quality smart speaker from Edifier with both Bluetooth 5. and Wi-Fi connection. As soon as I took it out of the box, I was impressed with both the quality and design of the speaker. At over 2kg it feels solid, the wooden case gives it a luxurious feel and it will look at home in most living rooms. The speakers are covered with a black fabric with a metallic accent and all the controls are on the top of the unit.

Primarily this speaker is intended to be used with streaming connections, connected to Alexa and then Spotify, Tidal, Apple Airplay and other sources directly rather than through your phone. That said, the built-in Bluetooth allows direct connections if needed and switching source is as simple as a press of the touch controls. One thing that is not provided is a 3.5mm jack for a line in, not always necessary but an option that I like to see included.

As I’ve come to expect from Edifier, the speaker sounds really good. The 25W 4” main driver handles the bass and mid tones with a 15W tweeter handling the higher frequencies. Music is full bodied and sounds rich with no distortion even with the volume cranked up.

Of course with a single speaker you’re not going to get stereo sound but using the app multiple devices can be setup into a left and right speaker pair. Alternatively, if you have more devices then groups can be created giving a multi-room sound system.

The speaker features Smart Touch Control and to control the volume you simply move your fingertips clockwise/ anti clockwise on top of the circle on the top of the speaker, switch songs by touching the previous/next icons, pause/play music by the lower icon, mute/turn off the speaker by a short/long-press on the middle button. The white and blue LED indicators on the top of the speaker indicate the signal connection of Wi-Fi streaming and Bluetooth 5.0 systems

Overall, I am really impressed with the Edifier MS50A, it is a great speaker in both sound and looks and at £110.49 it’s not going to break the bank.

Edifier G5BT CAT Headphones

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

I’ve come to expect great sound from Edifier and the G5BT gaming headphones from their Hecate brand do not let me down. Listening to music is a pleasure, with deep bass and a full immersive sound from the 43mm Hi-Res titanium drivers. The headphones are really well built and comfortable to wear, the ear cups are softly padded with memory foam as is the adjustable headband to give all day comfort. They also include a cute set of cat ears – an extra feature that you’re going to love – but don’t worry if cat ears aren’t your thing they are attached with magnets so can easily be removed!

Being targeted squarely at gamers, there is a dedicated gaming mode that adjusts the sound profile and gives a low latency connection. If you’re using a 3.5mm jack connection and your device is compatible, then you’ll also benefit from the certified Hi-Res sound.

It isn’t just about the sounds that you can hear, it is important that your friends can hear you. The headphones come with a boom mounted microphone that can be hidden away when not needed and a great dual mic noise cancelling system.

The final gaming touch is a full RGB system with 8 different lighting options which light up not only the earcups but the magnetically attachable ears too, personally I’m not a fan of the lighting but then again I’m not a teenage gamer! If like me you prefer not to use it, it is easy to turn off and best of all, the headphones remember the setting when you next turn them on.

The battery life is excellent, a 2 hour charge can give 20 hours of use – and up to 36 hours without the lighting but if connected with the 3.5mm jack then they’ll work fine without any charge at all. Connection is either by Bluetooth 5.0 or a 3.5mm jack allowing connection to a wide range of devices. I’ve been using bluetooth and have not had a single problem. Controls are pretty simple with easy to find buttons on the back of each ear cup covering all the normal features such as volume, track skip, answer a call etc.

The headphones come with a charging cable, 3.5mm jack cable and a hard carry case which is great for keeping the headphones in when travelling.

With great sound-quality and comfortable to wear these would make the perfect gift for any gamer young or old.

Edifier W820NB Plus Headphones

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

I have been using a pair of headphones from Edifier for a few weeks now and I’m really happy with their performance.

The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones are a pair of lightweight (221g) bluetooth headphones with USB-C charging and connection. Made completely of plastic they are available in a range of 5 colours (Blue, Grey, Green, Ivory and Black) and are lightweight and very comfortable to wear. I have worn them for several hours at a time without any discomfort or sweaty ears! The headband and ear cups are soft and the headphones are adjustable so will fit pretty much any size head. The build quality is good and whilst lightweight, they have a quality feel to them.

Most of my listening is done whilst working in the garden so noise cancellation is important to me, I was mowing the grass the other evening and was really impressed with how well they coped, my podcasts were easy to listen to and whilst I could still hear the petrol mower it wasn’t a problem at all. If you want to know the figures, Edifier’s website claims “upgraded noise cancellation with ANC depth of up to -43dB”.

I’m no audiophile but I can tell you that the sound quality through the 40mm drivers was very good, I couldn’t fault it. The frequency range is listed as 20Hz – 40kHz which is way more than my ears would hear! If you choose to install the accompanying app then you can select some different equaliser settings, but it isn’t something I would make use of so just left the settings at default. The headphones are Hi-Res Audio & Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified for those who have a Hi-Res device and a special game mode can be selected with a couple of presses of a button which offers a latency as low as 0.08s.

Controlling the headphones is done with the usual combination of single and double taps of the various controls. I’m never good at remembering all the different options but the basic controls are easy to use although the buttons could be a little bigger and more spaced out for me.

Answering a phone call is a single tap of the main button as is ending the call and noise cancellation can be turned off with a single tap too.

So far I haven’t had to charge the headphones, Edifier suggest they have a battery life of between 33 and 49 hours depending on how much the noise cancellation is used and a 10 minute charge should give 7 hours of use. More than enough capacity for me.

Edifier MP100 Plus Bluetooth Speaker

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Edifier are known for their high quality speakers, I already own a couple of their products and like them so was pleased to be asked to try the MP100 bluetooth speaker which Edifier suggests is a “great outdoor companion”.

With a rugged waterproof construction the MP100 is ideal for use outside. It is covered in a dust proof fabric and has an IPX7 rating which means the speaker can be 1 metre underwater for 30 minutes without getting damaged – so there isn’t the same urgency to put it somewhere dry when it starts raining – as often happens in this country!

It is available in a choice of three colours, Forest Green, Lake Green and Black and has a single button to control calls. There is a large loop which can be used to hang the speaker up and I found it to be quite easy to hold whilst wearing gloves. It isn’t a small device, it has a 95mm diameter and is 50mm thick, and with a weight of 185g it weighs around the same as a mobile phone. On the bottom of the speaker is a circular rubber base which helps keep the speaker from sliding around on whatever surface it is put on. The USB-C charging port, which is covered with a small rubber flap, is on the bottom half of the speaker along with the control buttons.

Setting up the speaker is easy, turn it on by pressing the power button for a few seconds, until the blue light comes on, then search for Edifier MP100 Plus in the Bluetooth settings of your device. The speaker makes an audible sound when connected and then you can use it to listen to music/audio from your device.

Built around a 5W 43mm full-range speaker the sound is great and with a claimed battery life of 9 hours is good for a whole day in the great outdoors. Now, I have to say that I’m no fan of people who play music whilst out hiking – I much prefer the peace and quiet – but for other outdoor activities, like camping or a day at the beach, it would be great. I spend a lot of time in the garden and enjoy listening to music or podcasts whilst I’m working and in the past have worried about damaging my speaker – with the Edifier MP100 Plus I no longer need to worry, I just hang it up, relax and enjoy!

Should you wish to use it for calls it has a built-in microphone and I found the sound was very clear, with noise suppression to remove unwanted background noise.

So whether you are camping, caravanning, relaxing in the garden or hitting the beach this summer make sure you have the Edifier MP100 Plus in your bag.

Edifier MF200 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review but all thoughts and opinions are our own

We live in a world where most people use electronic devices for entertainment and a good quality set of speakers can really enhance the experience. Edifier is a well-known audio brand that produce a wide range of speakers and are known for their high-quality audio and sleek designs. They recently sent me the MF200 portable speaker, and I was really impressed with both the build quality and sound.

At 490 grams it isn’t heavy, but it is well built and the solid aluminium construction gives a luxury feel to the speaker. It is a simple device and comes with a USB-C input / charging cable and a handy cloth bag for taking it out and about.

At one end of the speaker is a USB-C connection, used for both charging and as an input source and a 3.5mm socket for the AUX input. On the other end is the power switch which doubles as an input selector. There are three options for connecting to the speaker, Bluetooth 5.0, the 3.5mm AUX socket and the USB-C connection for smartphones and PCs. (Edifier does say that it is PC only, but I’ve had no problems connecting my Android phone).

On the front panel are three discreet touch / push controls to adjust the volume, skip tracks or pause playback.

Once connected the sound quality is excellent, producing a rich sound with no distortion, even at full volume and the soft rubber feet efficiently prevent vibrations moving through to the furniture. Internally there are two 4w 36mm full-range drivers and whilst they’re not going to shake the foundations, they’re great as a portable speaker.

This speaker is not just for connecting to your smartphone, it makes a great option for anybody who’s fed up with sub-par sounds from their laptop, just connect and play!

If using the speakers wirelessly, you should get up to 10 hours of use from the built-in 2200mAh high-capacity lithium battery.

I’m really pleased with this speaker, it has a quality feel that is matched by the clear sound of its speakers and its distinctive triangular design looks great wherever I take it.

Edifier GX Gaming Headset

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review but all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Christmas is fast approaching and this gaming headset from Edifier would make a perfect present for the gamer in your family – young or old!

Made of a grey plastic with leatherette ear cups and a lined headband this headset has a really good feel – they certainly don’t feel cheap and are light on the head and comfortable for long periods of gaming.

With any headphones the quality of the sound must be the most important feature and with a pair of 50mm titanium drivers and Hi-Res audio this headset does not disappoint. The earcups provide plenty of insulation from external sounds and music is clear over the whole frequency band.

Three different cables are provided enabling easy connection to a variety of devices. USB-C can be used to connect to most modern smartphones and tablets, A standard Type-A USB cable allows connection to PCs and PS4 consoles whilst a standard 3.5mm jack is provided for connection to pretty much any other device. At 1.2m long they might not be long enough for everybody but can easily be extended / replaced.

For gamers a good microphone is essential and the microphone on this headset works well. It includes a noise cancellation system to give better clarity and when not in use it easily stows away inside the earcup.

The headset has four controls, on the left earcup is a mute button for the microphone and a scroll for volume control. On the rear of the right earcup are controls to switch between gaming mode and music mode and also to control the RGB LEDs. Different colours can be selected and a long press turns them off completely.

These controls are all dependent on power taken from the USB connection which does mean that they do not work when using the 3.5mm jack.

I have worn these for quite some time and find them very comfortable and the refined styling with the ability to turn off the LEDs appeals to me, I had intended to give these to my teenage son but I don’t think I want to part with them now!

I do have one niggle to mention but it is only minor – the controls on the left earcup are well positioned but on the right earcup the controls are positioned right where I hold the headset when taking it off meaning I’m always pressing buttons by mistake.

Overall I am very impressed with these headphones, they are lightweight, comfortable to wear and the sound quality is excellent and at £69.99 are excellent value for money.

Edifier TWS1 Pro Earbuds Review

Disclaimer: We received the earbuds for the purpose of this review but all words and opinions are our own.

I have been trying out the Edifier TWS1 Pro wireless earbuds for the last week and I’m really impressed with them. They are comfortable to wear and feel very secure in my ear, I had got out of the habit of listening to music on the go as my previous pair kept slipping out and I never felt happy wearing them, so I am really pleased to have found a replacement that do actually stay put.

The earbuds are really easy to set up, simply switch on the Bluetooth pairing, connect & go. The earbuds power off when placed in the case and the lid is closed and power on and connect automatically to your device the moment you open the case.

To use the earbuds you simply tap them, controls include play, pause and skip to the next track as well as adjusting the volume and answering calls.

The Edifier TWS1 Pro earbuds feature Qualcomm®’s second-generation aptX™ adaptive technology which combines aptX™ high definition audio and aptX™ low latency, and dynamically switch to the best option depending on different scenarios. I found the sound quality to be excellent, with no distortion and perfect for my rock and pop playlists!

The charging case holds the earphones securely with magnets and once placed in the case the earphones start charging automatically A single charge provides 12 hours of playback time and the case provides an additional 30 hours of charge, so in total you can enjoy 42 hours of playback before you need to charge, which is enough for most people. When it does run out of charge the case has fast charging capabilities and reaches a full charge within 40 minutes.

I wear my earbuds when exercising so was pleased to discover that the earbuds have an IP65 dust and water-proof test rating making them the perfect choice for any outdoor activity.

The earbuds have a RRP of £49.99 and are available in black, dark grey, ivory or pink from Amazon
