We all have that one family member who’s hard to shop for at Christmas, so if they have a sweet tooth, why not surprise them with some mouthwatering homemade brownies?

Nikki at Slice of Heaven creates the most amazing cakes and brownies, and we were lucky enough to try one of the Brownie 4 boxes. With six indulgent flavours to choose from – Chocolate, Oreo, Twix, Milky Stars, Kit Kat, and Bourbon – there’s something for every chocolate lover.

The brownies arrived in pristine condition, packaged in a sturdy box with a clear plastic lid, with the ingredients listed on the bottom of the box. We tried the Oreo and Bourbon varieties, which were thick, full of flavour, and incredibly moreish! The added Oreo or Bourbon biscuits baked into the top takes the chocolatey experience to the next level making them the perfect treat for a loved one this Christmas. The Copenhagen Company Grapefruit Candle

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Candles have a magical ability to transform any room into a cosy, inviting retreat. The gentle flicker of the flame, combined with a beautiful fragrance, creates an ambience perfect for unwinding after a long day. Whether you’re curled up with a book, soaking in a bath, or listening to soothing music, candlelight helps relax both body and mind.

The Copenhagen Company have a fantastic range of candles, diffusers and room sprays with a great range of scents including classic florals like French Lavender and Peony and my all time favourite – Grapefruit. The family business was established in 1999 and draws inspiration from founder Bo’s Danish roots and love for fine fragrances. Their collection captures the essence of Hygge, offering products that bring warmth and comfort to your space, and are perfect as we head into autumn with the longer, darker nights.

The grapefruit-scented candle has refreshing top notes of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and passionfruit, with a rich base of vanilla and sandalwood. Once lit, the fragrance quickly fills the room and the beautiful scent lingers long after the candle has been extinguished – in fact I can still detect it the following morning.

The grapefruit’s zesty aroma is uplifting and energizing and perfect for brightening your mood and refreshing your space. Whether it’s your kitchen, living room, or home office, the scent brings a revitalizing touch to any room. The candle’s double wicks ensure an even burn, consistently releasing fragrance while providing extra warmth and light, enhancing the cosy atmosphere for those peaceful moments of relaxation.

The 600g candle has a burn time of 60-65 hours so my home is going to be smelling lovely in the run up to Christmas!

Not only is this candle a wonderful treat for yourself, but it also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift. The bright, citrusy scent is a refreshing change from traditional holiday aromas, making it an ideal gift for anyone looking to elevate their home with a warm yet invigorating fragrance.

Lily O’Brien’s Christmas Chocolate Selections

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

We love Christmas chocolates and Lily O’Brien chocolates are no exception. Throughout the year there are selections of Lily O’Brien chocolates in the shops but at Christmas time, they bring out the special limited edition varieties to tempt you into the world of after dinner dessert chocolates. We were sent a box of dessert chocolates (which are already in the shops) and a box of Limited Edition Dessert Chocolates in time for the feasting to happen. We were not disappointed…

Made with only the best ingredients, we opened the 312 gram (11oz) big box of Christmas Dessert Chocolates first. These are a real treat because they contain 9 different flavours;

  • Crème Brulée
  • Banoffee Pie
  • Lemon Posset
  • Spiced Latte
  • Raspberry Infusion
  • Hazelnut Torte
  • Dark Orange
  • Berry Eton Mess
  • Tripe Chocolate Shot

These flavours are not what you would normally find in boxes but reflect the time of year with the seasonal addition of favourite desserts and indulgent chocolate.  I particularly liked the Berry Eton Bess with the dried berries, tiny meringue pieces and white chocolate in a milk chocolate cup, and the Dark Orange which is a ganache filling with pieces of dried orange. These were particularly reminiscent of Christmas with their specific spiced flavours and perfect for after dinner, or sitting down with a hot drink to catch up with friends.

The second box was the favourite Dessert Collection. This contains 6 flavours, some of which were found in the Christmas Limited Edition Box:

  • Lemon Posset
  • Banoffee Pie
  • Crème Brulée
  • Raspberry Infusion
  • Key Lime Pie
  • Hazelnut Torte

My favourite here was the Key Lime Pie with the citrus lemon curd and lime infused truffle in dark chocolate, which has always been my best of chocolates. With both boxes, the chocolate is smooth and generous with the rich flavours being very overpowering, hence they work well as dessert chocolates and you may only need 1 or 2 after a meal to give you the chocolate sweetness or that dessert flavour you crave. This 210 gram box (7.4oz) is handy for stockings or Secret Santa as it’s a bit smaller and more affordable, but both of the boxes have such a mixture of flavours and different chocolates that anyone can dive in and enjoy them!

Lily O’Brien Limited Edition Christmas Dessert Chocolates available later in the year at £12 from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco.

Siprano Non-Alcoholic Wine

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

Today, there are not only a lot more choices available to us for alcohol but non-alcoholic drinks are also becoming increasingly popular, and much better than they used to be.

Siprano was born out of owner Anna-Louise’s sobriety and an opportunity she found to create wines that were non-alcoholic but tasted as good as the real thing.  There are a surprisingly large demographic of buyers who don’t want or can’t drink alcohol, and those, like me, who just don’t like the taste. Ultimately, the non-alcoholic market is much larger than the drinker’s market and has more longevity, so Anna-Louise has hit the nail on the head with her idea, and especially in time for Christmas.

Anna-Louise sent me a bottle of each of my favourite wines; a Riesling white wine called The Very Cautious One and a Rosé called Darling Cellars Grenache. Both are alcohol free and refreshingly, also vegan so anyone can drink these!

The Very Cautious One was our first to open. A dry wine, it is typically Riesling flavour with Australian grapes.  Not a tough drink at all, it has sharp tones but a slightly fruity taste which develops with time. It feels like a wine but perhaps not the same Riesling flavour as the alcoholic version but still refreshing and easy to drink either on its own or as part of a meal.  It’s light-medium bodies so you can drink more of it than you might imagine.

The DC Rosé is made with 98% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Grenache from South Africa and has distinct delicacy to it with a fruity sweetness.  This is a great pairing with a pasta meal or after dinner and is very drinkable.  This tastes more like its alcoholic rosé cousin and goes down well on its own or with a meal, and even a snack in the evening.  Particularly good sharing with a group of friends where you can forget that it’s not alcoholic and enjoy it anyway!

Siprano has an online quiz on their website to help you choose which wine is best for you, with a subscription of 1-4 bottles per week delivered to your door. Their gift idea also works perfectly as a gift for someone to receive a bottle per month for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Nothing stopping you having your own subscription for the next 12 months too, and with it being non-alcoholic wine, it won’t be the alcohol preventing you opening a bottle as often as you like.

www.Siprano.co.uk have a new website which they’re eager to show off, so have a look and see if the quiz, or any of their evolving products take your fancy.

Helly Hansen Verglas Warm Running Tights

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

As autumn sets in and the mornings turn colder, it’s time to swap my running shorts for running tights so I was really pleased when Helly Hansen sent me a pair of their Verglas Warm Running Tights to try.

The tights come in three different colours—hickory, ocean, and black and I opted for the ocean shade since I often wear blue tops, plus the darker colour hides mud and dirt well!

When I first put them on, I immediately noticed how comfortable they were. The fit was excellent, with an adjustable, flat-front waistband that’s both flattering and, most importantly, doesn’t dig into my waist while running or walking. The stitching is smooth and flat so there was no rubbing or chafing, even on longer runs. I’ve worn them for hiking as well as trail running and the 4-way stretch means there is plenty of movement in the fabric, making them ideal for all outdoor activities.

We all know Autumn weather can be unpredictable, with sudden rain showers, strong winds, and chilly weather all too common.  These tights are fleece-lined so they keep my legs lovely and warm now the temperature has started to drop. The tights also feature a handy back zipped pocket, it’s not particularly large but I can get my phone in it or if your phone is too large you could use it to safely store your keys. The tights are machine washable at 30°C, and after a few washes, they’ve held up well, drying quickly both indoors and outdoors. The fact that they dry quickly makes them  great for travelling since you can rinse them out in the evening and they’ll be dry by the next morning.

Available in sizes XS to XL, I was very impressed with the length of the tights. At 6′ tall, I often find leggings a bit short, but these reached my ankles perfectly. The sizing was also spot on, I ordered my usual size, and they fit like a glove.

The Helly Hansen Verglas Running Tights have quickly become my go-to choice for all outdoor activities, they’re perfect for running and walking and they’ll keep my legs warm as the temperature drops.

RRP £70.

Helly Hansen Crew Insulator Jacket

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

As autumn approaches and the days grow shorter, the crisp morning air signals it’s time to bring out the layers again. A lightweight insulated jacket, like the Helly Hansen Crew Insulator Jacket, becomes essential at this time of year, offering warmth without bulk. With the unpredictable British weather, conditions can change quickly so having a warm lightweight jacket, that doesn’t take up much room in my rucksack is very important when I’m going out hiking.

For early autumn hikes, when there’s still some warmth from the sun, this jacket is perfect to throw on over a t-shirt to keep the breeze at bay. On colder days, it works well as a standalone top layer over a base layer or fleece. It’s also useful as an insulating layer beneath my waterproof coat, making it an excellent choice for the ever-changing weather of the season. Whether you wear it as a top layer or under a shell, this jacket is designed to handle the varied conditions that autumn throws at you.

As someone who’s 6′ tall with long arms, I often have trouble finding a jacket that fits comfortably. I typically go for men’s coats to ensure the sleeves and body are long enough, and I’m thrilled with the fit of this one. It provides the length and room I need without feeling bulky, offering a tailored fit that allows for easy movement, perfect for women like me who need extra length but still want a flattering fit.

In terms of functionality, the jacket comes with two zipped hand pockets and a convenient zipped chest pocket, ideal for keeping essentials like your phone or keys within easy reach. Made with PrimaLoft® Black insulation, it’s lightweight and packable, yet warm enough to handle the chillier mornings that autumn brings.

This jacket really ticks all the boxes for autumn adventures. Its tailored fit, especially for those who need more sleeve length, combined with durable fabric makes it a fantastic choice for any outdoor activity. As we move into autumn, with its cooler and unpredictable weather, this jacket offers the perfect combination of warmth and versatility.

Available in five different colours, the jacket is priced at £150.

Freshwater Pearl Necklace by Created By Carol

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

This one is for the jewellery lovers who love the water, especially freshwater pearls. Created by Carol is a one-woman business in designing and making silver jewellery, based in Yorkshire UK.  Carol is a self-proclaiming pearl enthusiast and has won various TV competitions for her design and production of jewellery. Using real silver in the form of antique cutlery, buttons and anything else she can find, Carol is an advocate for those with disabilities and teaches metalworking, pearl knotting and stone setting. When she’s not working (which sounds like a lot of the time!) she’s repairing sentimental jewellery at her local repair shop.

Her website, Created by Carol, is a treasure trove of what you can buy an all of it unique. From spoons and buttons made into jewellery items or refashioned using their unique patterns, Carol has created a library of silver jewellery which you won’t find anywhere else.  Her love of pearls is also evident in the great body of work she has which includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. We were sent this absolutely gorgeous handmade solitaire pearl necklace to review, but you can see from her website that there is a whole host of jewellery for you to discover.

Pearls have been harvested long back in history, even in Roman times but especially for monarchs throughout time, and mentioned in the Bible. For anyone who works with chakras, the pearl is especially meaningful with the third eye due to its association with balance and wisdom and wearing it at your throat chakra (or heart chakra depending on the length of the necklace chain) can bring purity and diving feminine wisdom too. In fact, there are a lot of lovely properties of pearls that make them great gifts.

This timeless freshwater pearl necklace comes on a chain, ready to wear. You can see it’s a natural, freshwater pearl because of the slightly irregular shape and texture of it, but the iridescent reflective surface reminds you that it’s real and totally wearable with anything.  It’s exceptionally well made by Carol, as you’d imagine, with absolute precision and sympathetic to the beauty of the pearl. You don’t need more than just one pearl to make the statement as I found out as soon as I put it on! The silver fine chain and bar will never date and once you wear it, it’s so addictive to add more to your collection and have matching sets. The slight difference in pearl colour, sizes and textures make it almost a hobby in itself to hunt down the next piece for your collection.

In fact, you can’t go wrong with a pearl for a gift, and I am loving my first ever freshwater pearl necklace!

Helly Hansen Women’s Trail Wizard Running Shoes

Disclaimer: we received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own

When it comes to running, your choice of shoes can have a significant impact on your performance, comfort, and safety. While standard running shoes are designed for pavement or treadmill use, trail running shoes are built to tackle the challenges of rough, unstable terrain. With their deeper tread, they provide superior grip on soft, muddy trails and dirt tracks, making them the ideal choice for off-road adventures. Helly Hansen have a great selection of trail running shoes and I have thoroughly enjoyed putting the Women’s Trail Wizard running shoes to the test this summer.

The efficient ventilation system allows for plenty of airflow, preventing overheating and moisture buildup and whether I’ve been navigating steep inclines or muddy trails, these shoes have kept my feet comfortable and dry throughout the entire run.

Weighing just 260g these shoes are remarkably lightweight, making them a pleasure to run in. The HH Max-Comfort Insole offers a springy, cushioned feel that’s perfect for both short sprints and long-distance runs. The insole adapts to your stride, providing consistent comfort whether you’re on a quick morning jog through the woods or a longer trek across varied terrain. The non-marking rubber soles deliver excellent traction, making these shoes versatile enough to handle a variety of surfaces, from rocky paths to slippery coastal trails.

In addition to their high-performance features, these trail running shoes are a great choice for eco-conscious runners. With over 70% of the upper made from recycled materials, Helly Hansen showcases a strong commitment to sustainability. This eco-friendly design doesn’t compromise the quality or durability of the shoes, offering an environmentally responsible option for runners who prioritize both performance and reduced environmental impact.

Their lightweight design ensures they don’t feel clunky or heavy, while the springy HH Max-Comfort Insole provides lasting comfort for any distance. With these shoes, you can confidently explore woodlands, hills, mountains, coastlines, and more, knowing you’re prepared to take on any challenge the trail presents.

Helly Hansen Men’s Brono Softshell Zip Off Pants

Disclaimer; We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own

We’re all familiar with the unpredictable nature of British weather, which makes having adaptable clothing a must for outdoor activities. The Helly Hansen Men’s Brono Softshell Zip-Off Pants have been my go-to walking trousers this this summer with the zip off legs being ideal for those typical British days which can be quite chilly to begin with but end up with unexpected sunshine (in between the showers!) The zips enable a quick and hassle-free switch, ensuring you’re always prepared for the weather.

Made from 4-way stretch softshell fabric, these trousers offer both flexibility and comfort. They are incredibly comfortable to wear and pack down small, making them ideal for backpacking and travelling when space is at a premium. The lightweight fabric is treated with Durable Water Repellency (DWR), allowing it to withstand light showers and it dry quickly when you get caught in a sudden downpour – particularly useful in the UK, where surprise rain showers are all too common.

In terms of design, the articulated knees and gusseted crotch provide excellent mobility, letting you move freely whether you’re scrambling up hills or navigating rocky terrain. Their smart design also makes them versatile enough to wear out and about, and once the legs are zipped off you have a pair of reasonably stylish shorts.

Practicality is another strong point. With two hip pockets and a zipped pocket on the thigh, you have ample secure storage for essentials like your phone, keys, and the all important emergency snack. The fit is true to size, and the inclusion of belt loops allows for an even better fit if needed.

Saabuni Illuminating Saffron Serum

Disclaimer: we received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

I’m always on the hunt for skincare products that enhance my complexion, so I was thrilled to try the Illuminating Saffron Serum from Saabuni. This natural, cruelty-free facial oil features a potent blend of Saffron, Liquorice, Indian Madder, and Banyan Tree extracts, designed to visibly firm the skin and leave it glowing with youthful radiance.

Saabuni’s story is as captivating as their products. The brand was founded by Naseema, who was inspired by her grandmother’s tradition of making soaps, creams, and hair oils from flowers and spices. Drawing on the rich tradition of Ayurveda, Naseema now crafts her own skincare products using these cherished recipes, with a deep passion for natural beauty. Each product is carefully handcrafted using only the finest ingredients which truly benefit the skin.

The star of this serum, Saffron, is well-known for its brightening properties, helping you achieve a stunning summer glow without the need for excessive sun exposure. Liquorice and Indian Madder work together to firm and tighten the skin, while Banyan Tree extracts add a youthful vibrance.

The facial oil is lightweight and absorbs nicely into my skin without leaving it feeling greasy. I’ve been using it at night time as it’s an excellent alternative to heavier night creams, providing a lighter, more natural feel on the skin.

I’ve been using this serum for a month and I can genuinely say that my skin feels incredible – hydrated, softer, firmer, and noticeably more radiant. The transformation is undeniable, with a significant improvement in texture and overall glow. Gone are the days of dealing with dry skin on my face, this product has effectively addressed that concern and my menopausal skin is looking a lot better than it was a few weeks ago.

Suitable for all skin types, this oil fits seamlessly into any skincare routine, simply apply 1-2 drops on damp skin after cleansing. A little goes a long way, so the 30ml bottle should last 2-3 months.

A bottle costs £34.99, and with a current offer of buy 2 get 1 free, now is the perfect time to stock up. Whether you want to lighten up your skincare routine or achieve a radiant glow, the Ayurvedic Glow Facial Oil is a must-have that leaves your skin feeling lighter, brighter, and more youthful.

Swan Retro DAB Radio

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

For those who are difficult to buy for, function and style are two aspects which are really appreciated and the Swan Retro SRA43010 DAB radio has both.

As a DAB Bluetooth radio, there are 20 pre-set stations available on this model with 10 available on DAB and 10 available for FM radio. It also connects by Bluetooth and has a headphone jack in the back and can be powered by a 5V electric cable (which is provided) or 4x AA batteries.  The buttons on the top are easy to use and helpfully labelled so you can work out how to turn it on and use it without having to worry about reading the instructions! There’s a dial for volume and it doubles up for the select/snooze/play/pause too. Don’t forget that this has an aerial – it is retro after all!

When operating for the first time, you need to add AA batteries (not provided) or I prefer using the adaptor which is provided and makes it easier to use as you don’t need to change the batteries every so often. It does depend on where you want to use it though as taking it on a camping trip obviously means you have to use batteries but if this is at home, you can use either power method, which is a huge plus when it’s a gift too.

When you turn it on with the Power button, as this is a digital radio it will automatically find the signal and set the date and time for you. The radio scans for you to find all the available stations in your area and tells you how many stations it’s found. Unlike analogue radios, it will start playing the alphabetically first station on the list, so not necessarily the first one on the dial like other radios would.  To find another station, click the +/- buttons to cycle through the available DAB stations then press the dial to fine tune to radio into the station shown on the display. There are options to do a full, detailed DAB scan which will erase all the stored stations but you can also manually tune to a station of your choice.

Some of the nifty features of the Swan DAB radio include DRC or Dynamic Range Compression. This is something that some DAB stations use which enables the audio to be amplified if they are lower or raising if they are quieter such as if the signal isn’t so strong or there is a variety of noise levels throughout. There’s also the FM function which allows you to change from DAB to FM radio to get the stations which aren’t yet digital. If you really need to, you can use the manual tuning into the FM station instead of the scan function, so there are choices there for you to be able to find whichever station you need.  The Bluetooth mode automatically pairs to a device such as your phone when you’re out and about. Perfect for when you don’t want to listen to the radio and bring your own playlist instead!

There are other fun gadgets on the Swan DAB Retro Radio such as an alarm, a Time Out (to set the duration of play before it cuts out) various ways of dimming the display if you don’t want to see what it says or have less light pollution.  There is a sound equaliser as well and different settings such as classic, jazz, pop and speech.  The sound quality is excellent and really puts the old analogue radios to shame with how sharp they are and how good the signal is, which is invaluable when you live in an area that doesn’t get a great radio signal.

The Swan DAB Retro Radio is great for anyone who loves the radio, or just as a functioning digital radio at home or on the move.  Children will love this as it has all the gadgets on it which allows them to reach any kind of station and they can even use it as an alarm to wake up to every morning. Older generations will enjoy the retro aspect, or if you’re design conscious and like the ‘old fashioned’ look at home, this fits right in!  It’s the perfect gift for someone who has everything!

Swan DAB Retro Radio currently on sale for £55.99 at: https://shop.swan-brand.co.uk/products/swan-retro-dab-radio?variant=43512585978047

Orchard Toys Games

Disclaimer: We received these products free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

We absolutely love Orchard Toys jigsaws and games, the bright, chunky pieces and easy-to-play games are not just entertaining but educational too. They have been making games for over 50 years, earning a well-deserved reputation for quality and durability and their products are designed to withstand the wear and tear of little hands while also encouraging learning.

With this summer’s unpredictable weather, we’ve found ourselves playing a lot of board games, so I was really pleased to receive a selection of their games, especially as the children (and me!!) were becoming a little tired of playing the same games over and over again.

Dotty Dinosaurs (RRP £12) is a fun dinosaur themed game which promotes colour and shape recognition along with fine motor skills. The game features double-sided dinosaur boards – on one side, players match shapes, and on the other, they match coloured spots. With three different ways to play, children roll either the shape or coloured dice (or both in game three) and race to cover their dinosaur board with the correct pieces. The beautifully illustrated dinosaurs also encourage children to learn about different species, we talked about where they live, and what they eat and how scary they were!

Buzz Words (RRP £9.75) is ideal for children aged 5 and up. This fast-paced game helps with spelling and letter recognition in a fun, low-pressure environment. With four different games to play—Race to Spell, Grab the Word, Pick a Pair, and Make a Match, children are continuously learning valuable skills while having fun. Our favourite was Race to Spell, where players race against the clock to spell the word on their picture. The game offers three, four, and five-letter words, allowing you to tailor the difficulty to your child’s ability. Even young children who can’t yet spell aren’t at a disadvantage as they can simply match the letters to the pictures. Our little reviewer particularly enjoyed this game, happily matching letters and even practicing spelling on their own. The letters can also be used to spell out new words or to help children learn to spell their own names, which our reviewers loved as well.

Jigsaws are another fantastic way to develop hand-eye coordination. The Giant Alphabet Extra Long Jigsaw Puzzle (RRP £11.25) not only aids in learning the alphabet but also features large, chunky pieces for each letter. The puzzle includes cut-out letters to match with the jigsaw, making it an ideal tool for helping children recognize letters and develop a love for puzzles. Each letter features several illustrations beginning with that letter, and the accompanying learning guide is packed with discussion points to encourage learning. While completing the puzzle, the children talked about the different animals, where they live, and what they like to eat and it was quite interesting hearing some of the things that they thought dinosaurs ate and where the rocket was heading to next!

One of the greatest benefits of board games is the quality family time they create. We’re in an age when screens often dominate our lives and board games offer a tech-free experience for the whole family. For preschoolers and children in early primary years, play is one of the most effective learning tool and board games are especially valuable as they can teach a range of essential skills. Games that involve counting, colours, shapes, letters and numbers can help reinforce what children are learning or about to learn in school and are a fun way to learn these essential skills. Orchard Toys offer such a wide variety of games that there’s bound to be something to suit every child’s interest. From animal-themed games to word and number puzzles, we’ve never been disappointed by any of their games.

Connetix Pastel Starter Pack (64-Piece)

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Connetix is an exceptional magnetic construction toy that perfectly blends education and fun, making it ideal for indoor play during the school holidays. The Pastel Starter Pack is a wonderful introduction to the Connetix range, featuring 64 pastel-coloured tiles crafted with safety and durability in mind. Each tile is made from food-grade, non-toxic materials and features strong magnets along every edge for effortless connection. The riveted corners enhance safety, making it suitable for younger children, while the bevel design adds extra strength to the tiles.

As well as being great fun to play with, Connetix tiles are a powerful tool for promoting STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). They help develop cognitive abilities, spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, and both fine and gross motor skills. As children (and adults!) explore different ways to build with the tiles, they naturally engage in problem-solving and gain a deeper understanding of geometric concepts. Suitable for ages 3 and up, this set has enough pieces to allow everyone in the family to get involved.

One of Connetix’s standout features is its versatility. By combining different sets, you can create even more complex and imaginative builds—the only limit being your imagination! Connetix is available in various sizes, from the 24-piece Mini Packs to the 202-piece Mega Packs, perfect for large, collaborative projects. Specialty packs like the Transport Pack, which adds wheels to your creations, the Geometry Pack for exploring shapes, and the popular Ball Run Pack for high-speed fun, add even more variety to playtime.

During the school holidays, the Connetix Pastel Starter Pack has become a favourite among our young reviewers, keeping them entertained day after day. Its open-ended design allows for endless possibilities, from building castles one day to constructing towers the next. Whether you’re collaborating on a grand project or each creating your own masterpiece, Connetix encourages creativity and teamwork, making it a fantastic way for children to learn through play.

I’m really impressed with Connetix, the combination of educational benefits and pure fun makes it the perfect toy for the whole family, fostering creativity, learning, and quality time together.

RuRu Cosmetics False Eye Lashes and Brow Gel

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

We’re holding onto summer here and enjoying this late heatwave that has everyone out at festivals, BBQs and the beautiful outdoor bars and restaurants that have become a part of British culture since the sun has been shining. Ruru Cosmetics sent us some reusable false eye lashes (and a bonus brow gel!) to keep us looking gorgeous all summer long and with a bit of practice, we have been trying them!

We were sent; Ruru Cosmetics False Lashes (Sunny, Ocean and Cindy) at £3.25 each, Ruru Cosmetics Olive and Alice (£7.99 each) and Luna (£3.25). We also received the Ruru Cosmetics Lash Adhesive (£6.49) and Ruru Cosmetics Brow Gel (£9.99).  Obviously the Lash Adhesive is needed to fix the lashes but the Brow Gel is great for fixing your brows just how you want them and complimenting any of the lashes you use at the same time.

I have never used false eye lashes before, neither removeable ones you fix yourself nor the kind of lashes you go to a salon and have done. It’s intrigued me though and looks like a fun way to dress up when you go out!  I started with Olive from the Ruru Cosmetics Faux Collection. The Faux Collection range can be used up to 30 times and come in their own box which can be used to keep each pair between the times you use it.  After looking online at the free download from Ruru Cosmetics on how to use the eye lashes and using the Lash Adhesive that Ruru Cosmetics sent me, I found some tweezers and got to work!

To remove the eye lashes, I teased them out of the case, being careful not to stretch them out of shape. Then using the Lash Adhesive, you only need to dab a little along the lash band, but right up to the ends so that they stick firmly. Using the tweezers, attach the false lashes as close to your own lashes as possible, and dab them down. Once they are dry, you can add mascara if you wish.  To remove, use the tweezers at the far corners of the eye and pull away, tracing the line of your natural eye lashes so as not to stretch them again, and replace them back on the casing to use next time.

It does take a bit of practice but eventually you get the hang of it!

They look very dramatic at first, but I did like the shape of them and how natural they look. These are brilliant for going out or for replacing your own lashes if they aren’t as full as you’d like, and with the range available on the Ruru Cosmetics website, you’ll find something that suits you.  The only point I would recommend is that you practice putting them on before you are in a hurry to go out, but as the pairs can be worn up to 30 times, you’ll have plenty of chances to wear them again!

With the approach of Christmas, most of us with pets turn our attention to showering them with love during the festive season, and Pampeano has the ultimate solution with this luxury leather dog collar.

The Multi is the most popular style of belt in the Pampeano range, so it’s only natural that they make the same style, and quality, available for your pooch as well! Made with Argentinian leather and crafted in the heart of Argentina it is fashioned with red, cream, light blue, navy and racing green colours.  The sturdy buckle also takes the weight of a lead, and if you’re feeling co-ordinated, Pampeano also have the Multi design leather lead to compliment this dog collar!

The Pampeano dog collar is available in sizes from XXS (for dogs such as Chihuahuas) right up to XL for dogs such as German Shepherds and a total of 6 sizes in all. With the workmanship of all the Pampeano range, I can imagine this collar will last a lifetime, and with the distinct design you’ll be able to locate it anywhere in the house, or whilst you and the dog are out and about.  If you and your dog love matching too, then the collar, lead and your very own Multi belt are a must this Christmas!

A Scaretastic Time at The London Dungeon

Disclaimer – We received entry to this attraction free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

Housed on the South Bank in the shadow of the London Eye, The London Dungeon is a walk-through attraction of some of London’s darker historical moments. Very easy to get to – a tube ride to Westminster and walk across the bridge, taking photos of the London Eye and the Big Ben on the way.

At the entrance you are greeted by ‘decorated’ staff who guide you in, depending on your ticket. There is an opportunity for a nice selfie here, on a throne with a portrait of the King. A few security checks, a bag search then into three staged photo selling areas. The staff here weren’t part of the attraction and are very matter of fact – stand her, hold this etc, so don’t let this put you off the rest of the attraction.

However, then the ‘fun’ began. A jester gave us a few rules – don’t touch, we won’t touch you and it’s dark with light effects. Then we met a Royalist in the intro to the ‘Rotten Royals’, where we learnt about King Charles I and how we were to help rescue him from execution! This part of the Dungeon was quite historical and involved an executioner and a torturer and some wanted (or not!) interaction from the attendees. Then we went into Plague London, Mrs Lovett’s Pie shop, met a helper of Sweeny Todd and finished with Whitechapel and Jack the Ripper. Our final visit was to a judge who sentenced us all to death. Unfortunately, we weren’t hanged as the finale of a ‘death drop’ was closed due to maintenance. Slightly disappointing as it felt the tour had led to this scary ending. Instead we just got herded into the photo room.

Was it truly scary? I think this depends on whether you have experienced these tours with actors before and possibly your age. And whether you like ‘taking part’? We overheard one young girl gleefully talk about her dad being chosen as a prisoner and torture victim. Most of it is in the dark with well-timed light effects and ‘bits’ that move and water that sprayed you in lieu of blood. Very young children wouldn’t like it at all, but teens and family groups would enjoy the interactive nature of it. Rather than read or listen to information, you are addressed by actors who play the parts – an executioner, Mrs Lovett, a Jack the Ripper victim. This is good and entertaining and they try to get you involved and certainly ham it up for all it’s worth. We particularly liked the witch in Newgate prison – very creepy and in the dark with strobe lighting. I was impressed how they could move around in pitch black and jump out in front of the unexpected (me!).

You walk through in about an hour so have to be prepared to be on your feet although there were three rooms where you sat for a while. The tour is in groups so you move from area to area – no time for looking at the set dressing along the way, which would have been nice. And if English isn’t your first language you may have difficulty following all that is said – there were some ripe Cockney accents flying about.

At the very end there is a tavern, with a self playing piano and skeleton. The prices for drinks weren’t at all bad, so this could be a quiet stop for refreshments before exiting.

Tickets are £35 per adult, £29 for children, which although a little steep they do multi-attraction tickets which includes the London Eye, for example, and these work out at much better value, especially for anyone in London for a couple of days. If you are visiting London’s sites I would buy the multi ticket and do the London Dungeon as part of this.

Tile Bluetooth Trackers for Back to School

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

As September approaches and many children will be starting a new school and indeed, many teenagers will be going off to university for the first time, there is a lot to remember. There is also responsibilities to take care of that weren’t there before. Tile have a range of fancy trackers that can help aid that responsibility and we were sent the Tile Pro and Tile Mate to try out – before school start again!

The Tile products work as trackers linked to an app on your phone (or website or device) whereby you can locate the Tile tracker and hence anything that it’s attached to. This could be a set of keys, car keys, purse or wallet, rucksack, sports equipment or even a car or wandering pet!  Once you have the app and sign up one Tile tracker then the possibilities become endless especially for someone who is always losing something…

The Tile Mate (£19.99) has a range of 250 ft (or 76 metres) which makes it ideal for finding anything in the house, but also for finding something left in the car whilst you’re still in the house, or if you’re at the office and wondering if your house keys are in the car outside.  The battery lasts up to 3 years although it isn’t replaceable but the use of the app is free. You can activate the ring on it from the app so that you can find it in a hurry and it’s water resistant too (which means it can be on the outside of a school bag and still endure the rain). This is great for kids going to school when they can’t find their PE kit or are always losing their house keys before they get home!

The next product up in the Tile range is the Tile Pro (£29.99). This tracker has a range of up to 400 ft or 120 metres, so much further and has more uses. All of the trackers can be used multiple ways thanks to the keyring design where they can be clipped to keys or kept in a pocket. The Tile Pro is especially good for car keys but as it has a larger range, I would use this at the airport to keep tabs on the luggage when it’s in the airport.  The Tile Pro is also great for keeping on toddlers and small children in busy places so that you can track them on your app if you need to. Think about a summer festival or busy park and 120 metres is a large area to be scouring to find a missing small person!  There’s a really loud ring on this Tile Pro too so you can hear it from much further away and it has a reciprocal button on it so if you, or your child press the button, it alerts the app on the phone it’s attached to. If you have a Year 6 child at primary school this year, the Tile Pro is often enough range to track your child to and from school if you live close enough, and ensures you know where they are at all times.

Swan Nordic Collection Kettle & Toaster

Disclaimer: We received these products free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

The kettle and toaster are the two most used appliances in my kitchen, they are the ones everyone reaches for first thing in the morning, last thing at night and many times in between for a hot drink or a tasty snack.

Given how often they are used, investing in high quality appliances like those made by Swan, is a smart choice. They recently sent us a matching kettle and toaster from their popular Nordic collection and the appliances, which are designed to be both functional and visually appealing, offer a touch of elegance and charm to any kitchen.

The tall jug style kettle with a snug fitting lid can make up to 8 cups from a single boil, making it perfect for larger families or when you’re entertaining. The cotton white coloured Scandinavian style kettle looks very stylish with it’s wood effect handle and the illuminated on/off switch makes it is easy to tell when it is on. The kettle sits on a 360 degree rotating base making it ideal for households with both left and right handed users.

The kettle boils nice and quickly, the 3KW of power can boil a single cup of water in under 45 seconds and a litre of water in just under 2.5 minutes so you don’t have to wait long for that all important first cup of tea or coffee in the morning. It also pours nicely with the water going directly into the teapot or cup without any mess, this may seem like a minor detail, but a smooth pouring action is very important and gets my day off to a good start!!

The matching toaster is equally impressive, with 7 browning settings to suit all preferences. The four slice toaster also features a defrost setting, reheat and a cancel function and the two halves of the toaster can be controlled independently, so if you are making toast for two different people, one of whom likes well done toast and the other prefers lightly toasted then that’s not a problem. The white front and rubberised wood effect controls look nice and stylish, and the simple Scandinavian design will look good in all kitchens.

My pet hate is toasters with thin slots that can’t take a fruit teacake or even worse ruins them when they get stuck to the side, so I was very pleased to discover that this toaster has nice wide slots to accommodate everything from chunky slices of bread, bagels, and of course my favourite snack – the fruit teacake.

When using the toaster, it is obvious that this is a well-built appliance, the controls feel solid and robust and it toasts nice and evenly. There’s two crumb trays at the bottom of the toaster to catch all the crumbs which slide out easily for cleaning.

When you’re using an appliance daily it needs to be built to last and Swan’s Nordic kettle and toaster are constructed with durability in mind. The kettles stainless steel interior is resistant to limescale buildup, ensuring it remains clean and efficient over time and the toaster feels nice and and robust, especially the levers to lower the bread for toasting.

Safety is also a priority with these appliances, the kettle has an automatic shut off and boil dry features while the toaster has an automatic shut off to prevent overheating.

Kettles and toasters are the unsung heroes of the kitchen, used more frequently than other appliances so if you’re looking to upgrade your appliances this summer then the Nordic range is a great choice, combing practicality with a touch of elegance.

Toaster RRP £79.99

Afternoon Tea Week at Brown’s Covent Garden

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

As if we need an excuse for an Afternoon Tea, 12-18 August is Afternoon Tea Week across the UK and Browns Brasserie & Bar invited us to their Champagne Afternoon Tea at their luxurious Covent Garden restaurant to sample their new Moet & Chandon menu. Available now in all Browns Brasserie & Bars, the classic meal is enhanced by a glass of classic or pink Champagne courtesy of Moet & Chandon and set in the fabulous ex-courthouse building in Leicester Square.

Upon arriving, the Judge’s Court room is upstairs (staircase or lift, in case you’re wondering) which is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downstairs and one of the busiest parts of London. There’s no noise and no passing trade to disturb you or your photos, but the decadent décor, the parquet flooring and almost complete inside of the court from when it was a working court is still there. There’s even the judge’s chair left at the front of the room and ‘TO THE CELLS’ sign on the door! It’s beautifully decorated with plenty of room and no rush to contend with.

The Afternoon Tea Menu is both traditional and delicious. Starting with the Moet & Chandon Champagne, we had a classic glass each, which was slightly dry but totally appropriate with an Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches include an open sandwich of rye bread and salmon pate, lobster brioche, salt beef and horse radish and a lovely mix of cheese, pickle and crunchy apple – a combination which I will be trying at home! Each of the sandwiches was so fresh and so delicious we wanted to have more, but Browns had other ideas, judging by the amount of cake that was also on the stand.

Each of us had a plain and a fruit scone for the second course, with cream and both strawberry and blackcurrant jam to accompany. The crumbly scones were obviously baked that morning and fresh on the plate, as were the four different cakes which we enjoyed. Starting with the Blackcurrant Victoria Sandwich which was light and fluffy and featured the fruity blackcurrant jam which featured with the scones, it was definitely the first one to try before the stronger flavours kicked in.  The Carrot Cake was also fresh and baked with cinnamon to give the tangy yet rich flavour which is so often found in Afternoon Teas.  The Brown’s Black Forest Chocolate Pot also requires a Highly Commended mention because this was the richest of all the rich desserts with a Black Forest centre, chocolate moat and a cream filling on top. This one was definitely one to be eaten slowly!  The final cake was a delicate lemon meringue tart with edible violet flower on top, to remind you that it’s still summer.

All of this was accompanied by a tea of your choice including loose leaf English Breakfast or Earl Grey and teabags of Green Tea, Elderflower & Pear or Ginger, Turmeric & Lemon.  The tea is endless with more pots being brought out whenever you ask for them and the jams and cream are bottomless too.

Browns Brasserie & Bar have put on a super Afternoon Tea this year and not only is it available throughout the summer but there are vegetarian and Gluten Free versions too.  Classic Afternoon tea starts at £30 with Moet & Chandon Champagne costing £40 and Pink champagne at £45. We certainly enjoyed our 2 hours stress free and were more than full from their Afternoon Tea! https://www.browns-restaurants.co.uk/afternoonteamenu#/

Hair Gain Peptide Puff Dry Shampoo, Scalp Foam and Hair Mask Review

Disclaimer: We received these products free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

AD I’d been on the lookout for some travel sized hair products to take on holiday with me so was really pleased when Hair Gain offered to send me a selection of their hair care products. The handy sized products fit easily in my wash bag, making them the ideal companions on my recent walking and cycling holiday.

The Hair Gain Peptide Puff Dry Shampoo is a festival goer’s dream come true, with it’s ability to refresh your hair instantly it’s the perfect choice when showering isn’t an option. With its unique powder puff applicator rather than the typical aerosol, it offers a refreshing and eco-friendly way to freshen up greasy locks when you’re away from home. This method is not only better for the environment but offers a more precise application, absorbing excess oil and adding volume, leaving my hair feeling fresh and clean without the need for water. The other advantage to the powder is it doesn’t leave a chalky finish on my hair and feels less chemical-like than other dry shampoos I have used before. There’s no excuse for dull locks now, one application and my hair feels clean and full of life again.

RRP £15

The Scalp Foam is lightweight and easy to apply, providing a soothing and revitilising treatment for the scalp. It’s especially beneficial for maintaining scalp health whilst on the go, ensuring your scalp feels comfortable and balanced. The leave-in hair foam contains naturally derived ingredients which work together to nourish your scalp. It is applied to dry or towel dried hair and you simply massage it into your scalp. It doesn’t need rinsing out and by using it daily I have noticed that I am shedding less hair and my hair is starting to feels stronger. It also smells lovely too.

RRP £32

Finally the Hair Mask is a nourishing treat that deeply conditions and revitilizes hair. You apply it to towel dried hair, massage it in, leave for 5-10 minutes and then rinse out. There was enough in the 50ml tube for 5 applications on my shoulder length hair so is the perfect size for a summer holiday. I used it on a week long walking and cycling holiday where my hair was assaulted by sun and sweat every day and it really made a big difference to my dry curly hair. Using the mask a couple of times over the week meant my hair was more hydrated and manageable than it is normally. Since returning home I’ve been using it on a weekly basis and am very pleased with the condition of my hair – the mask gives a powerful dose of hydration, leaving my dry curls soft, shiny and bouncy again.

RRP £14.50 50ml

The wide toothed Hair Gain comb is the perfect tool to help distribute the Scalp Foam and Hair Mask. It can be used on wet or dry hair and it’s great for detangling my curly hair without excessive pulling or tugging. The sturdy teeth with rounded tips effortlessly glide through wet hair with less pulling which speeds up the detangling process whilst reducing breakage

RRP £11.95

I’m really impressed with these products, they are fantastic for both travel and everyday use and the handy sized products combined with their effective formulas makes them a must have for anyone looking to maintain their haircare routines whilst away from home this summer.

Be @ One Cosmetics Review

Disclaimer: We received these products free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Like most middle aged women I have fallen into a rut with my make up, always using the same brands and colours so I was delighted when I was given the opportunity to try some new cosmetics from Be @ One

If you haven’t heard of Be @ One before, they are a brand new make up brand who offer an impressive array of cosmetics including BB cream, Mascara, Lip Gloss, Concealer, Lipstick, Eyeliner, Powder, Eye Pencils and Eye Shadow. The company are on a mission to change the way people think about make-up and beauty and their vegan and ethical cosmetics are the perfect choice for those who want to move away from the big brands and make a conscious choice to use cruelty free and environmentally friendly beauty products.

The Be Bold Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £19) contains five highly pigmented shades in shades of brown – Frosting, Sweet Biscuit, Butterscotch, Coffee Bean and Liquorice. Whether you are looking for a neutral every day look or full-on glamour you can easily create it with the colours in this palette. Normally with eye shadow palettes there is a colour that I never use however I know I will wear all these shades as they all look great with my dark brown eyes. The eyeshadows are easy to apply and it was easy to build up colour to get the desired effect. The eyeshadow was also easy to remove at the end of the day, one swipe of a bamboo pad with eye make up remover on and the eyeshadow simply melted away. Despite their affordable price these eye shadows certainly rival the high end brands I usually use, providing long lasting wear without creasing.

The Be Cheeky Compact Powder (RRP £19) is available in four different shades, catering to a variety of skin tones. The powder offers a smooth matte finish that helps control shine through the day. The powder feels lightweight and the vegan formula is gentle, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally it includes a SPF15 rating giving your skin extra protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

The Be Radiant BB Cream (RRP £19.50) is the product I love the most, available in four shades it offers a natural, radiant finish with just the right amount of coverage. I have fair skin so opted for the Light Touch shade and it evened out my skin tone and hydrated my skin without feeling heavy, even on really hot days. The BB cream is enriched with the natural goodness of argan oil and has a SPF30 rating providing essential sun protection.  As a vegan product it contains skin loving ingredients that nourish and protect making it an excellent choice for everyday wear.

The Be Bright Concealer (RRP £16) is available in four shades and the creamy formula which contains argan oil, aloe vera and avocado oil is easy to blend, effectively covering blemishes and dark circles. The formula is kind to my sensitive skin and offers buildable coverage for a natural finish.

Be Fabulous Lip Gloss (RRP £13) is moisturising and isn’t sticky and gives a beautiful shine to lips.  The applicator scoops up just the right amount of gloss meaning you only need one application for gorgeous shiny lips and it glides onto my lips effortlessly. There are four different shades currently available – Punk Pink, Bold Red, Pink Crush and Morello so there is a shade to suit all occasions. Naturally enriched with argan oil, aloe vera and avocado oil, it is effortless to apply and leaves lips lovely and soft.

I’m really impressed with these products, Be @ One offer the perfect blend of affordability, quality and ethics and the high quality formulations are gentle on the skin and as good for your complexion as they are for the environment. As a new small brand Be @ One are making a significant impact and I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring out next.

Cetraben Day and Night Facial Cream

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

The misery of eczema prone skin is known to many, and is often a lifelong battle.  Cetraben have launched a new Day Cream and Night Cream which are dermatologically tested to replenish moisture in the skin, and help prevent skin from drying out.  We were sent some of both to try, which is not just for eczema prone skin but for anyone who has dry, itchy skin and looking for that extra relief.

The Cetraben Moisturising Facial Day Cream is a lightweight cream which can be used on the skin to cool the face daily. It can be applied as a preventative measure to keep skin hydrated during the day, or onto flaky, itchy skin which needs a hydrating boost.  Containing coconut oil and oat oil, Cetraben Moisturising Facial Day Cream also contains squalane and glycerine. Working together, these ingredients soften skin and sooth dry skin.

Working in conjunction with Cetraben’s Facial Day Cream, their Nourishing Facial Night Cream also boosts hydration but includes jojoba seed oil, castor oil and shea butter as well as squalene and glycerine. This power pack of ingredients boosts hydration whilst you sleep and your skin regenerates, and locks in the moisture to help alleviate dry skin and allowing your skin to heal overnight. Continued use will help eczema skin with its rich but lightweight formula.

Each of the Cetraben Face and Night Creams absorb easily into the skin, but you can tell that the Night Cream is heavier with the inclusion of jojoba seed oil, castor oil and shea butter to give a richer, deeper effect at night.  Both are lovely to the touch though and provide a great deal of hydration to the skin. I didn’t find I had to reapply the Cetraban Facial Day Cream a second time during the day either, I only needed one application during the morning and the Cetraben Facial Night Cream at night.

These Cetraben Day and Night Creams make great gifts or lovely treats for yourself, especially if your skin is dry and needs that extra moisture replenish.

Pampeano Leather Belt

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

Add glamour to your summer with this timeless leather belt from Pampeano. Not heard of them before? Let me explain…

Pampeano means ‘from La Pampa’ – a region in Argentina famed for their stunning views and handmade leather goods. Argentina is famous for both horsemanship and their polo fields, which has inspired Pampeano to create an extensive range of leather good for sale all over the world, including these stylish belts. We were sent the Alba belt to review this week, which was quite a treat!

The Alba belt, like all the Pampeano belts comes in sizes from 80 centimetres to 15 centimetres (28-42 inches). The leather belts are adorned with different patterns and the Alba is embroidered with 6 colours of a typical Argentinian design, with a slight feminine twist. The variety of colours means it can be matched with a range of outfits or just with a plain white shirt and jeans. Don’t just stop at jeans for these hand-made Pampeano belts though, because they can just as easily be paired with a dress or a long shirt to create a waist that isn’t already there and the quality of the leather and the metal buckle means it can be used in a casual outfit or for very dressy. Think maxi dress, boots and a low-slung belt.

The belts are made to a high quality, with a beautiful design and durable stitching to ensure the buckle stays in place.  It also arrives in a gorgeous presentation box to not only protect it but to keep it in great shape if you want to give it as a gift. The range of sizes online also make it a great present so that you can tailor each piece to different friends, not having to worry about whether it will fit or not.  High quality leather belts like Pampeano will always be in fashion and last a long time and are well worth the investment.

I tried out the Alba Pampeano belt with a pair of jeans. It fit snugly in the belt loops of most pairs of jeans but the unique, understated design of the pattern stands out compared to other leather belts.  Whilst using it, you can feel the quality and the weight of the buckle. The leather is of high quality and is treated so that it doesn’t crack or split easily and you can see the workmanship in the way the belt is constructed especially around the buckle which is where most of the wear is on a belt, and the part which is seen most often.

We often forget how important a belt is to an outfit and for some trousers (and skirts for that matter) a belt is essential. Pampeano have a beautiful range of not just belts but bags, purses and wallets which are also made to the same high quality and have distinctive, Argentinian designs you’ll love.

Darn Tough Women’s Running Socks

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

Yes, it helps to be Darn Tough when running, and these merino wool ¼ socks from Darn Tough stood up to my Park Run test today.

Socks are a nightmare to get right when you’re running. You can’t change them half way through a run and stopping to adjust them is a no-no when you’re on the clock and surrounded by people who would need to edge around you.  So Darn Tough have brought out their running socks (and new versions come out every year) which are comfortable as well as functional.

From Vermont, Darn Tough manufacture walking, hiking, sports and running socks for men, women and children based on quality. Their socks are made from merino wool and a high quality Lycra for the best fit, no blisters and best of all, they have a lifetime warranty. Their socks may be expensive (these ¼ socks for running are priced at £20) but if you ever get a hole, or any kind of defect, they will replace them for you with a whole new pair.

If you look at their whole range online, you’ll see the socks aren’t boring either. There’s a whole range of colours, and each design comes in multiple colours too. Great for distinguishing in a household who the socks belong to if you have multiple runners or walkers!  They’re pretty enough to not feel stagnant either with the range of colours that fit the running and workout outfits that are available today. I liked these blue socks which have a quirky yet not overstated design. It makes them easier to distinguish when you peer into the drawer and decide which pair to put on.

These socks are called Women’s Run No Show Tab Ultra-Lightweight Running Socks. It means that they are designed for running because of the extra Lycra across the bridge of the foot (where the laces would be) and are lightweight for running. The Lycra is also a high quality to allow for more give and cushion and to compensate for the fact that these socks have less merino wool as they were making the socks and therefore the running shoes too bulky and uncomfortable.

Park Run this morning was hot and uncomfortable by the Darn Tough socks were no problem. There’s plenty of stretch in them, they’re durable and don’t pinch with the extra Lycra and there’s absolutely no slippage when running and no blisters.  The lifetime warranty means I can wear these every week without having to worry about them every wearing out. I can’t guarantee that won’t happen to me though…

Available online at £20:
