Modimi Paco the Pony Toy

Disclaimer: We received this toy free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

It’s almost November and with a large family to buy for I’ve already made a start on my Christmas shopping. I’m trying very hard to be more sustainable so I was really pleased to discover Modimi which are an eco-conscious modular toy system made from durable recycled plastic.

With six cute animals to choose from – Ellie the Elephant, Dexter the Dog, Paco the Pony, Ginny the Giraffe, Donny the Dinosaur and Dash the Dinosaur the toys are made from 100% recycled plastic and are packaged in a cardboard box with none of those annoying plastic ties that parents hate.

The heads are all a similar size and the legs are the same height meaning they can easily be interchanged to create new creatures. I especially liked the feet which squeak when you press down on them, bringing delighted squeals and giggles from our mini reviewers as we walked them across the wooden floor.

Modimi toys are designed to grow with your child so babies will enjoy the textures, colours and squeaks and older children will begin learning the animals, colours and shapes. Toddlers will have the most fun as once they work out how to pull the animals apart they can begin creating new creatures to play with.

I especially like how the joints are articulated, meaning you can turn the heads and bodies, allowing children to bring the animals to life when playing with them. The pieces snap together easily and our mini reviewers soon got the hang of pulling them apart and putting them back together. Each body part is brightly coloured and the textured raised shapes and crinkly fabric ears and manes are great for sensory play.

I’m really impressed with Modimi toys, they are not only great fun they are educational too, helping with fine motor skills, dexterity and encouraging role play and they will make great gifts for babies and toddlers this Christmas.

Shady Car Sunshade

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review however all thoughts and opinions are our own

We all know the importance of protecting babies and children from the sun’s harmful rays and if your children travel in the car regularly than a sunshade is an essential piece of kit to have in the car. As well as protecting your child from the sun they will keep the sun out of their eyes and can help keep the temperature down when it is hot outside.

When my sons were younger, I had many different sunshades which all fastened to the window with suckers. They were ok and did the job but as they fastened to the window you couldn’t open it and my sons always worked out how to pull them off! I was therefore very interested when I heard of Shady a sunshade that sticks to the window allowing you to open your windows when the sunshade is on.  The black and white shade which helps stimulate babies’ visual and cognitive development blocks 86% of UV rays, protecting children from the harmful effects of the sun.

I received one of the two pack sets which contains two sunshades, two window wipes and a plastic squeegee. The instruction leaflet has a QR code which you can scan to watch a very helpful video which gives full instructions about fitting the sunshade. It is important that the temperature is at least 10 degrees when you fit the shade and the window is very clean. The shade was really easy to fit taking around 5 minutes to do, simply peel the backing from the sunshade and apply the self-adhesive shade onto the window, if you get any air bubbles you can use the squeegee to remove them. Once they were fitted I wound the window down to test it and it went up and down perfectly.

I am really impressed with the Shady® sunshade, you can still wind the window down, there’s no chance of an inquisitive toddler pulling it off and it protects children from the sun. Highly recommended.

The Shady® car sunshade is available to buy direct from Shady and costs £12.98 or a two pack is available from Amazon for £19.99.

Blade and Rose Christmas Clothing

Disclaimer: We received these products free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own

With Christmas just around the corner, we were delighted to receive three items of clothing from the Blade and Rose Christmas range. Blade and Rose are renowned for their funky, yet practical outfits, and our mini reviewer couldn’t wait to wear his new Santa clothes.

The Santa Leggings not only look wonderfully festive, but they will keep your little one warm and snug during the cold winter. The red and brown stripes paired with the green cuffed trouser bottoms give the leggings a really Christmassy feel and the jolly Santa face, which you find on the bum section of the leggings, is great for making you smile. Unlike other baby leggings, the bum section on the Santa Leggings is super stretchy meaning it easily fits over both nappies and the bulkier cloth nappies.

The leggings are comfortable and easy to move about in thanks to their non restrictive fluffy knit material.

Available in sizes 0-6m, 6-12m, 1-2yrs, 2-3yrs, and 3-4yrs.

No Christmas outfit is complete without a Christmas jumper, and the Santa top is a stunning piece of festive children’s wear and goes beautifully with the leggings

Made from 95% Cotton and 5% Elastine, it will keep your little one warm and comfortable but without feeling constricted.

Santa’s jolly face is delicately appliquéd on to the top, and his fluffy beard will certainly keep your children entertained whilst wearing it.

Available in sizes 0-6m, 6-12m, 1-2yrs, 2-3yrs, and 3-4yrs.

Finally, to finish this jolly Christmas outfit, we have the super cute Santa Socks

These delightful little socks are adorable and will keep tiny toes warm and snug. The socks match the leggings and top perfectly and are soft on your little ones’ feet.

The red and brown stripes with hints of green are the perfect Christmas colours, and the small fluffy santa face on the front of each sock is a very cute addition.

Etta Loves Sensory Hanging Squares

Disclaimer – We received this item free for the purpose of this review/feature but all words and opinions are our own.

Sensory play is a wonderful way for your baby to learn more about the world around them by using different textures, patterns, colours, and sounds. Etta Loves has a wide variety of sensory based gifts for your little one this Christmas, each guaranteed to captivate your baby’s attention.

One of our favourite products from Etta Loves is their Sensory Hanging Squares which are designed to be used during your baby’s first year of life. The pack we received contained 3 patterned squares each with a plastic hanger. The squares can be attached to your babies pram, car seat, baby gym, play mat, and may more places.

The sensory squares are designed to support your baby’s visual and cognitive development. Both are extremely important parts of your baby’s development, and the squares are a fantastic tool to provide stimulation.

They are very different in look and texture, and each is a new experience for your baby to learn with through play.

The fern/sycamore (with rattle) square is a great tool to get your baby used to sound and using movement to create sound. The chequers/illusion with crinkle was a real favourite, and the crinkle noise was incredibly satisfying for our little reviewer.

Finally, the Dalmatian/mirror square was a great way for our little one to see themself and look at the world around them through the mirror reflection.

Each square is made from GOTS certified 100% Organic Cotton and filled with recyled polyester and is machine washable!
