Flapjacks are one of my favourite treats and it’s fair to say that I’ve eaten plenty over the years, some have been delicious, others not quite as good but I can honestly say I have now found the holy grail of flapjacks with Flapjackery

Flapjackery was founded in 2015 by Carol Myott and Sally Jenkin after meeting when selling cakes at a farmers’ market in Tavistock, West Devon. They shared a passion for home cooking with quality British ingredients and Carol came up with the idea of making flapjacks. They started baking in their own kitchens and Flapjackery was born. As the company grew they moved to a unit on an industrial estate and started selling their flapjacks at farmers markets and larger events and opened their first shop in Tavistock in 2018. With covid putting a stop to the farmer markets and shows they had to diversify and started selling online and opened a couple more shops, Wells and Minehead in 2021 and Plymouth and St Ives in 2022.

When you look (or should that say drool) at their website, there are 24 delicious flapjacks to choose from. All the flapjacks are handmade in Devon and if you can’t get to one of their shops don’t despair as their delicious flapjacks are available to buy online – you can even create your own box of favourites too – how cool is that!!

They offer lots of different boxes and there is also an option to create your own selection box with a choice of four different boxes. A box of 8 or 12 flapjacks along with two different message plaque boxes that contain a giant  personalised millionaires flapjack. The boxes can be gift wrapped and a free personalised message added to make your gift even more special.

If you create your own box the hardest part is selecting your flapjacks! There is a fantastic selection ranging from a traditional flapjack to more unusual flavours like peanut butter and raspberry jam, honeycomb or lemon drizzle, they all sound absolutely delicious and I am looking forward to trying more flavours in the coming months!

It’s always a little worrying when buying food online but my Flapjackery flapjacks arrived in perfect condition, they were nicely packaged in a carboard box and individually wrapped. They all looked delicious and the hardest part was deciding which one to try first! In the end we decided to try a piece of all three and settled down with a cup of tea and flapjack.

Millionaires flapjack – the flavours were sublime and the caramel was utterly moreish. It paired well with the crumbly, oaty flapjack base.

Raspberry & White chocolate – this flapjack has plump, juicy raspberries, sandwiched between the buttery flapjack base and is drizzled with white chocolate and plenty of freeze-dried raspberries. It was nice and fruity and went well with a nice cup of tea!

Salted Caramel Brownie Flapjack – this was my favourite of the three, gooey chocolate brownie on a flapjack base – this really is the ultimate flapjack

Each flapjack was fresh, flavoursome and incredibly moreish – they were moist, which is so important, there is nothing worse than a dry flapjack, and satisfyingly crumbly. My family and I really enjoyed these flapjacks and we have already been checking out the Flapjackery  website for more flapjacks for Birthday and Christmas treats. With a box of three flapjacks costing £12 they will make a lovely gift for family and friends this Christmas. I am also thinking of buying some as stocking fillers and for my secret santa this year.
