Build Your Own Pinball Machine Advent Calendar

The Build Your Own Pinball Machine Advent Calendar is a fantastic alternative to the usual chocolate advent calendar. When you open the lid you’ll still find the traditional 24 numbered doors but behind each one is a simple instruction sheet for assembling that day’s piece of the pinball machine. The components for each day are conveniently stored beneath the number doors and there’s also a full set of instructions (just in case you misplace the piece of paper) and a handy cardboard gadget to help you push out the slots.

Despite being made of cardboard the parts are surprisingly sturdy and pop out from the card surround easily without ripping or tearing. No glue is needed as the parts all fit together nicely.

Putting the advent calendar together is a fun experience and by December 24 you’ll have a fully functioning pinball machine. All that’s left to do is open the final door to reveal the all important marbles and then you’re ready to play. Pinball is a great game, appealing to all ages so it’s perfect for family friendly competitions over the festive period.

Made from high quality sustainable biodegradable cardboard this eco friendly advent calendar is going to keep the whole family entertained this Christmas.

Suitable for children aged 8+

Thorntons Chocolate Advent Calendar

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

These days advent calendars have lots of different goodies hiding behind the windows, including beauty products, alcohol and toys, but I much prefer the traditional ones that contain chocolate – after all what other time of the year can you get away with chocolate for breakfast!!

Whilst Thorntons have closed all their high street shops, you can still get their delicious chocolates in supermarkets and online and I was delighted to receive The Best of Thorntons Advent calendar which contains 24 yummy chocolates from the Continental and Classic range as well as a couple of the new Thorntons Pearls.

This really is a sophisticated advent calendar for grown up kids – the snow scene design is very festive and there is a delicious chocolate to enjoy each day. As the selection of chocolates are from 3 different ranges there is a great mix of mouth-watering flavours in milk, dark and white chocolate and with 12 different chocolates in the calendar you can look forward to a second one appearing again later on in the month.

So on to the chocolates – my favourite has to be the Triple Chocolate, bite into it and your mouth is filled with the taste of smooth, quality chocolate. The Orange Velvet Pearl is a real taste sensation, a decadent orange chocolate ganache coated in smooth milk chocolate.

Though more expensive than the average supermarket calendar you simply can’t go wrong with this Thorntons advent calendar, weighing in at 258g, you’re getting plenty of chocolate for your money.

If you have a chocoholic in your household, I would recommend you treat them to this advent calendar, or just treat yourself – it is Christmas after all!

DANILO Star Wars Musical Advent Calendar

Disclaimer: We received this product free of charge for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

The 1st December is only 4 weeks away so it’s time to start thinking about advent calendars. Whether you prefer a chocolate advent calendar or one of the more extravagant versions you are going to be spoilt for choice with the huge selection of calendars available this year.

Danilo are Europe’s number one publisher of licensed calendars and The Review Studio team were really impressed with their Star Wars musical advent calendar, which is the perfect choice for Star Wars fans both young and old.

With a Hoth Ice Planet backdrop, the calendar opens out to create a Star Wars scene, the numbered doors on the base of the calendar lift up to reveal characters from the film and the doors on the backdrop have trivia and stickers behind them. The calendar is cleverly designed with a ribbon keeping the backdrop standing up and the three magnetic characters – C3P0, R2-D2 and Yoda can be placed on the base of the calendar and when the button is pressed move around to the Star Wars theme.

The sound quality is surprisingly good and the batteries can be replaced so this calendar can be used year after year. Whilst it doesn’t contain chocolate of gifts, it’s certainly a winner from a novelty point of view – it’s not just the children who loved pressing the button and watching the characters move around the base!!

This calendar is a great alternative for those who don’t or can’t eat chocolate and as long as you love the Star Wars theme, as that button will be pressed multiple times a day, it is a fantastic novelty way to count down the days to Christmas.
