Tucked away in North Oxfordshire, Neve’s Bees is a charming family run business, named after founder Julie’s daughter, Neve. Following a spot of experimentation with “lotions and potions,” – blending beeswax with pure, natural plant oils and butters, they soon realised they could create an entire range of skincare products using only genuinely natural ingredients – ones that felt far better on the skin than anything they’d bought before. I always seem to get chapped lips in winter and much prefer natural lip balms as they seem to soothe my lips much better. Using them both morning and night has become second nature, so I was quite excited when the parcel of Neve’s Bees lip balms arrived and I could tell from the minute I opened the first tin that these lip balms are much better quality than an off the shelf lip balm. They smell lovely and have a silky smooth texture which glides easily onto lips, The balm is quite solid in the tin but quickly warms up with the warmth of a finger and once on your lips it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky and it leaves my dry lips feeling soft and hydrated.

I’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors this week, so I’ve been able to really put these lip balms to the test. My ideal lip balm is one that pampers and nourishes lips, keeping them soft and hydrated no matter what the conditions are and these lip balms definitely ticked all these boxes. Whether I’ve been out walking, cycling or when I was battling Storm Claudia, a quick application of this lip balm has helped to keep my lips protected and prevent them from drying out and I’m confident they’ll continue to keep my lips hydrated as the cold weather settles in.

The three balms I have been trying out are –

Honey Vanilla – this is Neve’s Bees least fragranced lip balm and has just a hint of vanilla to soothe lips and allows the natural honey take centre stage.

Rosey is my favourite of the three balms, it is made from thousands of crushed rose petals and scented with Rose Otto and Rose Geranium. It is rich in vitamins A and E and it’s really helped soothe my dry lips.

Buttermint is inspired by the classic sweets and contains a blend of vanilla and peppermint. This lip balm is great for the men in your life who need to protect their lips but don’t want a flowery or feminine fragrance. This nourishing lip balm is full of goodness and is ideal for restoring softness and moisture.

A little treat for yourself before the spring sunshine sets in or some nice cosy nights early to bed, the Silk Eye Mask from The Silk Club is useful to everyone. Made with 100% Mulberry Silk, it’s available in 5 colours and two sizes; Small- Medium and Medium-Large. As it’s made of pure silk, it’s also environmentally friendly and biodegradable. Does it work though?

The softness of the silk means it fits most faces with just the elastic band in place and covers the whole eye area. It’s not uncomfortable to lay on the mask to sleep either, and as the elastic band is covered in silk too, it’s very delicate on the skin. Silk means it’s kind to your skin microbiome and helps prevent pillow face. I know a lot of women who swear by silk pillowcases to help prevent wrinkles and the Silk Eye Mask is similar.

To block out light, the mask is padded to give maximum blackout. Once you get used to having something over your face all night, it becomes comforting especially in the spring and summer when the sun comes up. It’s particularly good for travelling too, when you need to sleep on planes or in a car. Sadly, it doesn’t do anything for noise but it does help you concentrate on sleeping! The combination of noise cancelling headphones and the Silk Eye Mask is an absolute winner. They look very stylish too, with the plain block colours in pale pinks and blues.

Christmas is coming (yes, already!), and it’s the perfect excuse to treat your friends, your family…. or yourself! Beauty gift sets always feel special, especially at this time of year and at Christmas many include reusable wash bags or cosmetic pouches. The Lip Balm has that subtle cherry scent and glides on effortlessly, giving a lovely hit of moisture. It feels protective and soothing, exactly what you want when the winter wind picks up.

St Tropez Self Tan

This whopping 200ml bottle of St Tropez is the latest formula from St Tropez to get you glowing in time for summer 2026!

The St Tropez self-tanning serum is made with 100% natural tanning active and scient backed skincare ingredients. That sounds very scientific, but if you’ve been a self tan fan in the past and been put off because of the smell, then rest assured that the St Tropez Self Tan of today does not have that odour. In fact, I don’t think it has any odour at all which is why I could put it on in the morning and then forget about it!

The St Tropez Self Tan is a clear serum that goes on with out streaks and then develops over 8 hours. You need to exfoliate and moisturise first, and you’re supposed to use a St Tropez mitt but I was able to put mine on in the morning and let it dry. There’s a slight shimmer to the serum that allows you to see where you’re applying it which is really helpful when you haven’t got the deep brown colour to guide you. It takes a while to blend in but once it’s dry you can neither see it nor feel it whilst it works its magic.

You can apply just once to get a week’s worth of glow or apply it over a few days to get a deeper tan. It never goes really dark though, it’s more of a gradual tan but that looks more natural. I’ve tried it for a one-off party and it gives a sin-kissed glow, much the same as you get over summer if you’re just in the garden, but building up over a few days you get a lot more depth. Could be a life saver for the Christmas period!

MCoBeauty Super Pen 4-In-1 Liner

This is a brilliant stocking filler – a ‘pen’ which can be taken anywhere thanks to the click-down selection. Yes ,you do remember these from school! With the same format as a Biro, you can click to have an eyeliner (black), lip liner (pink), brow liner (light brown) or highlighter (white). The are all inter-useable in this lightweight pen style which can be put in a handbag or on holiday in a make-up bag where space is tight. Also brilliant for a night out when you don’t want to take many items!

The liners have different textures so I wouldn’t recommend mixing them together, but the eye liner could be used as a brow liner if the light brown colour isn’t a match for you. I personally wouldn’t use the highlighter that much but the light pink lip liner would be very well used by me daily. They’re all really good quality though, and there is a good supply there in the pen.

This is the type of product that would change how you do your make-up just because it’s so convenient to carry around, and it’s really easy to use. Teenagers would particularly enjoy this as a way of carrying make-up around but I know I’ll be taking this on holiday with me!

McoBeauty Flawless Glow Foundation

Treat yourself at Christmas to a perfect foundation glow from McoBeauty.

Available in 10 different shades, the McoBeauty Flawless Glow is an all-coverage foundation which works like a photo filter. You don’t need a brush with this foundation either, there’s what’s called a ‘Doe Foot’ applicator which allows you to dab an exact amount of base to your skin. Once applied, I used my fingers to blend it in but you can use a brush at this point. It was a full coverage of foundation on my face which wasn’t waxy or powdery at all and didn’t take long to blend. I particularly liked how it has that ‘glow’ to it too. There’s a slight shimmer to the finish (which actually dried really quickly) that bounces the light and gives you that Christmas glow.

The McoBeauty Flawless Glow Foundation makes a great stocking filler too, it’s really versatile and suits all ages thanks to both its skin coverage and the shine to give a healthy glow instead of the winter pasty look that so many chalky foundations leave. I liked the generous size too, and it would fit perfectly in a Christmas cracker!

Olverum Pure Radiance Facial Oil

I have become a big fan of facial oils in the last year. Facial oils are no longer greasy and pore-clogging, but contain added vitamins and minerals to repair and replenish your skin and make it feel smooth. Essentially, the oil works to keep moisture trapped and in your skins’ layers instead of evaporating away. Olverum Pure Radiance Facial Oil does just that, with a specially formulated combination which leave skin feeling soft. I tried it out this week as part of the Christmas gifts at Space NK and loved every minute of it!

Olverum Pure Radiance may be called an ‘oil’ but it’s very light in texture when you add it to your skin, and completely translucent. It smells absolutely divine as well so it’s a real treat to be able to apply it. It’s very light and absorbs easily but gives a light dewy glow. With the fragrance as well, it’s like a very delicate essential oils mixture when you wear it, so it’s perfect for days when you’re not wearing make up or if you put it on first thing in the morning before you apply make up later on. Within about a minute, there was no oiliness, just a light glow to my skin.

Olverum Pure Radiance Facial Oil contains high potency vitamins C and E to work together as an alternative to retinol. There’s also Bakuchiol, Cacay Oil and Rosehip Oil (which give it the fragrance) and Patchouli Extract which mimics the CBD properties. Finally, Cardamom Oil calms your skin, including fine lines so that your appearance is luminous. Suitable for all skin types, it’s light enough to not cause any acne (which I am usually prone to.)

I love facial oils now as a way of nourishing my skin without having to think about it. Used daily, it keeps fine lines at bay but doesn’t make your skin oily, and has the same nurturing effect as a facial but with less time. I did use Olverum Pure Radiance Facial Oil after a face mask to keep the moisture in and the germs out but you can happily use it daily as a base, or to cleanse your skin as it is an oil after all. My preference is to use it instead of a moisturiser when I’m working from home during the winter months and don’t need SPF, but I do get exposed to air conditioning or central heating which leaves my skin dry. It also works on lips and hands so there’s nothing that goes to waste when you apply it.

The Catch Me If You Can Bath Bomb is shaped like a cheeky little gingerbread man and fizzed away beautifully in the bath filling the room with a lovely Christmassy scent. The yellow and blue swirls created gorgeous golden patterns in the water before turning the water a very bright green – think the colour of Grotbags face (if you’re old enough to remember her – google her if you’re not!!) whilst the zesty lime and sweet wild orange oils smelt divine and were perfect for helping me relax after a busy day. The illipe butter and extra virgin olive oil in the bath bomb helped leave my skin feeling soft and nourished.

Next up, the Yog Nog Shower Gel and wow, this one’s a Christmas dream. It’s glittery, golden, and smells like sweet, spiced caramel. LUSH shower gels always turn a quick shower into a mini pamper session, and this limited-edition scent might just give my all-time favourite, Snow Fairy, a run for its money!

The Humbug Scrubee Body Scrub is shaped like a cute little bug and is packed with ground almonds and coconut shell for a gentle exfoliation. It also contains hydrating butters and pomegranate molasses which melted into my skin, leaving it lovely and soft. It has a double dose of peppermint and spearmint oils which gives a fresh, tingly feeling which has been perfect for waking me up now the dark winter mornings are here.

If I have to pick a favourite product from the box it has to be the Yule Log Soap. As a self-confessed chocoholic, this one was always going to win me over. It looks just like a slice of Yule log and even smells chocolatey. Made with maple syrup, cocoa butter, and macadamia nut oil, it gives a creamy lather that not only cleans my skin but soothes and hydrates it too. It looks and smells good enough to eat, though best to stick to admiring it every time you wash your hands!

Tolpa Dermo Face Rosacal Products

Tolpa is a Polish skincare brand and it’s now available at Boots. I’ve already used the Lipidrio range and now I’ve trying a couple of products from the Rosacal range, designed for those with sensitive skin.

The Strengthening Regenerating Cream (RRP £12.99) is a real multitasking night cream, it promises to do more than just moisturise, also helping to strengthen and seals blood vessels, making them less sensitive to external factors. It also claims to soothe erythema, calm irritation and even conceal redness thanks to its natural green colouring. On top of that it helps tackle fine lines and wrinkles. That’s quite a list of promises but with my skin in need of some extra TLC, I was hoping that it would make a difference.

The texture is lovely, it sinks in easily without that heavy, greasy feeling some night creams can leave behind. When I wake up, my skin feels soft, calm and properly hydrated. According to Tolpa’s own tests, the cream can reduce persistent redness by 10% after four weeks, even out skin tone and lessen the appearance of spider veins. Hydration levels also jump by 29% after the very first use and last a full 24 hours. After a month I’m pleased to say that my skin is looking much better, it feels plump and hydrated and I’m starting to see a small improvement in my fine lines too.

One thing I really like is the packaging. The cream comes in an aluminium tube, which not only helps keep the product fresher but is also better for the environment. Plus, it’s more hygienic than a jar – no dipping fingers in and spreading bacteria!

I’ve also been using the Rosacal Strengthening Face and Eye Area Micellar Wash Gel (RRP £8.99), which has slotted perfectly into my morning and evening routine. I massage it in gently and rinse with water, finishing with a damp flannel. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin but still effective – it removes light makeup easily, though I do reach for a stronger cleanser if I’ve gone heavier on the foundation. My skin feels clean, refreshed and never tight or dry afterwards.

The Shake & Shine Curls Refreshing Mist (£24) is my go to product for refreshing my curls – a few spritzes of the lightweight mist and a quick scrunch and tired curls spring back to life looking bouncy and defined again. It locks in moisture (up to 41% more, according to Curlsmith’s tests) without weighing hair down.

The In-Shower Style Fixer (£24) is an anti-frizz styling gel designed to be used on soaking wet hair. Like the name suggests the best place to apply it is in the shower and I just smooth it down my hair using the “praying hands” method before scrunching it and drying with my diffuser.

Curlsmith products are vegan, cruelty-free, and packed with natural ingredients. I’m really impressed with these products – my curls are shinier, smoother, and, on most days, even cooperative. Every so often they do their own thing, but that’s curls for you!

With autumn here and the cold of the winter around the corner, hand creams and lotions make excellent Christmas gifts. Starting with the Conditioning Nail & Cuticle Cream, this smells divine because it contains sweet almond oil, ginger extract and manuka honey. The honey is for hydrating as well as antibacterial and the ginger helps with fungus and bacteria too. The combination of the fragrances is lovely though! The serum helps condition nails and skin before you apply the cream. It can be applied alone, but I like to apply it before I’m sitting down at my desk to work, so that it works in all the goodness as I type.

The Conditioning Cream is the ‘top coat’ which is a rich, sweet almond and aloe vera combination, with added cucumber. You can really smell the aroma of the cucumber when you apply it, and as it absorbs in, it leaves a softness to your skin. In combination with the serum, the two work together so that you have long lasting nourishment to help your hands last winter.

Lastly, there’s the glass file and the Buff & Shine tool. The glass file lasts forever (literally, they never smooth) so this is a really good gift or life-long apparatus to keep by your side. The Buff & Shine tool is used on naked nails to take away any ridges or unevenness on your nails, and gives them a shine before you take the paint to them.

TEOXANE RHA is a patented hyaluronic acid, for skin hydration and anti-aging. Teoxane RHA forms a mesh on the surface of the skin to maintain moisture in the epidermis and strengthens the skin by preventing moisture loss. This leaves the skin looking not just hydrated, but plump and smooth too.

The Discovery Set includes 5 products that are used in combination to create optimal skin conditions. The Micellar Solution cleanses the skin in preparation for the treatments. Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil

If you’ve never used oil to remove dirt, make-up and clean pores before, then let me enlighten you… most make-up removers used to be 100% oil. This was a long time ago, when they weren’t fragranced though, and if you held onto them for too long, they would go rancid and smell. Think Petroleum Jelly but a bit softer! Oil does indeed remove dirt, but nowadays we have a more sophisticated approach and a much nicer selection to use.

Anua Heartleaf Pore Control is a cleansing oil which removed make-up, but also dirt, build up and generally anything that gets into the pores on your face. It’s lighter than most oils, and has a slight, fresh fragrance about it but nothing heavy. To use Anua Cleansing Oil, it takes just a small amount distributed over the dry skin of your face and massaged in for a minute or two. You can feel the softness of the oil as it works over your skin. To remove the cleanser, use warm water and I like to use the reusable make-up remover pads that you can put in the wash. They seem more robust than most cleansing pads, and yes, they help remove both the oil and the dirt that the oil removes!

After a light brush of warm water, my skin is cleaner and Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil manages to remove traces of make-up and dirt, including stubborn mascara. The cleansing oil also kept my skin hydrated, which is what you’d expect from an oil but in these autumn and winter months, air conditioning and heating really don’t help your skin. If you are in need of some de-puffing during the Christmas season, then I can highly recommend Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil for some facial massage too. Oil is essential for facial massages and this lighter, more nutritious oil worked a treat!

STYLPRO Red & Infrared Thermal Brush

I had seen reviews for Infrared and Thermal brushes, which promise to make your hair straighter, more manageable and give a better finish than just tongs or straighteners, so I was eager to have a go at these and see if they make a decent Christmas present! Could it replace my usual basket of hair styling products?

The infrared brush plugs in like a hairdryer or straighteners but is used like a normal every day brush. It does heat up quickly too. You can air dry or hair dry your hair, but it is the 142 LED lights which work on your hair to give it a smooth, sleek look with the heat generated allowing you to style into curls like you would a curling tong.

The brush can be used daily, but I would not recommend using the brush to dry your hair as such – it works much better if your hair is already dry. The extra long cable means you can stand up to use it at the bathroom mirror or keep it out of the way of little hands as it does get very hot.

The ceramic barrel heats up very quickly to 200 degrees centigrade but the temperature button means you can adapt the heat from 160-200 degrees centigrade to depend on how you want to use it. The heat allows your hair to style as if it were a hairdryer but when your scalp is exposed to red light, it stimulates the hair follicles to grow. Using the brush daily might help replace lost hair and make your hair more healthy. An added bonus of the STYLPRO Red & Infrared Thermal Brush heating up and styling quickly is that it doesn’t have the noise of a hairdryer, so if you’re getting ready in the morning and don’t want to wake the whole house, this is the perfect way to style! The brush also makes it easier to style curls, which I absolutely cannot do with straighteners, so this is an easier option.

It might take you a little while to get used to a corded hairbrush, but I started by working on dry hair and in very small sections to get the curls right. You learn how long you need to hold the curls to get the right shape, and the brush does get very hot so be careful. You soon find out why there’s a thermal glove included!

The STYLPRO Red & Infrared Thermal Brush is not just a gift at Christmas, but it can replace the tongs and straighteners at the same time. The bouncy curls give more volume to your hair too, and minimal products are needed to keep the lovely curl shape.

Mad Beauty’s Winnie The Pooh Bath & Beauty Advent Calendar is not for children, but for adults who love the book characters but want the grown-up luxury of a beauty advent calendar this year!

With 24 days (unlike some beauty calendars that only have 12 days) this calendar contains a selection of different beauty gifts such as clay face masks, body lotion, bath milk and lip balms. There’s also some beauty tools in there too including Hydrogel under eye masks (great for putting on whilst sitting in the bath), lip mask, body puff and nail files.

Most of the pieces have the Winnie The Pooh characters on them, like this nail file and hand cream, with some pieces able to last well into 2026 and be used again and again. There’s bath bombs and bath salts that can only be used once, but when you add up the value of all the 24 gifts, they last much longer than just advent. The smaller pieces are great for handbags or going on holiday too.

I know that there are always staples that I need for myself throughout the year, and I hate having to buy things like body lotion and bath bombs for myself when I know I’m going to get them in a gift set at Christmas! You don’t have to be a lover of Winnie The Pooh to be able to use and enjoy this advent calendar either, the gifts have been selected thoughtfully so that anyone can use them.

Mylee Gel Nail Polish

With Christmas, nail preferences change and suddenly you can wear bright red, gold and glittery nail colours to work and no one will bat an eyelid! Mylee have a range of nail gels and for Christmas 2025, we were sent the Gel Nail Polish Quality Treats set – two gel nail polishes in red and gold, and both glittery too.

Named Quality Treats as a set of two gels, presumably because they make a great gift, they come in a gingerbread house box set. The colours are called Honeycomb Glow and Candy Cane Crush and glide on easily with just one coating, as is normal with gel polish. If you’ve never used gel polish before, then it’s worth knowing that these polishes will need a UV lamp for 120 seconds or a Mylee LED lamp for 60 seconds. No top coat is needed, but if you don’t set them under either the LED or the UV lights, they won’t set at all and you’ll find you have damaged nails for hours and remnants of polish everywhere for days!

The colours are stunning and would look great at Christmas, or even for a New Year bash and because they’re gel, they will last much longer than varnish, up to 2 weeks.

Curlsmith Hair Products

Like many people with curly hair, I’ve spent years straightening and blow drying it and it’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve ditched the straighteners and started to embrace my curls. They are currently quite dry and unruly and it’s taken a lot of trial and error (and more money than I care to admit) to find a routine that really works. I’m always on the look out for new products to try and Curlsmith has been on my radar for a while, so I was delighted when a parcel of their products arrived for me to try.

The Full Body Weightless Cleanser (RRP £22) lathers beautifully and smells gorgeous – a lovely light, flowery fragrance that makes me want to keep smelling my hair all day long! The Full Body Milk Conditioner (RRP £22), with its handy pump dispenser, is easy to work through my hair and I found I didn’t need much to hydrate my curls. I leave it on for the suggested couple of minutes before scrunching and rinsing. My curls love the hydration and it leave sthem soft, bouncy, and far less frizzy. Even after a couple of days, they still look smooth and defined, which never normally happens with my hair!

Ordinarily, unless I spend ages carefully drying my hair, I end up with a halo of frizz. But since I started using these products I’ve found my curls spring back to life with no frizz in sight and once dry are defined, bouncy and look amazing.

The Frizz Rescue Finishing Serum (RRP £25) is enriched with sweet almond oil and argan oil has really helped banish the frizz. I’ve been using a blob about the size of a 5p which I warm in my hands before smoothing over my curls, concentrating on the top where the frizz is usually the worst. It instantly tames flyaways and is also great for defining individual curls. It does take a bit of trial and error to judge the right amount so start with a small amount and build up, otherwise you may end up with greasy looking curls.

Refreshing curls has always been the hardest part of my curly journey so I was curious to see how the Shake & Shine would perform. The lightweight mist sprays easily, locking moisture into the hair – in fact in Curlsmith tests it provided up to a 41% increase in moisture. It’s been a real game changer for my curls – a few sprays, a quick scrunch, and suddenly my curls bounce back, looking defined and revived with almost no effort.

Curlsmith products are vegan, cruelty-free, and packed with natural ingredients. I’m really impressed with these four products and the results speak for themselves. Sleep hygiene is so important yet it’s a fairly new revelation to most people. Blocking out light to create the perfect environment for a good night’s sleep is essential, so Dozzz have created the Luxury Momme Bulberry Silk Eye Mask.

Made with 100% Mulberry silk on both the inside and the outside, it’s incredibly soft, and light too. You can hardly feel it when you’re wearing it. It’s fastened at the back with Velcro which allows you to adjust for the size of your head as well as how tight you like the band to be whilst you sleep. It also means that the whole sleep mask is breathable and doesn’t get sticky in the summer, which is when I first started using it.

Putting the mask on, you can see from the design and the padding in the right places that it blocks out light. I tried this during the days as well as night, as my bedroom is completely dark anyway until the sun comes up, but I can confirm that with a bit of wiggling, the mask covers all light! The nose in reinforces to make it more comfortable and the eye patches are actually oversized so anyone can wear it. As there are no elasticated sides or fastenings, it doesn’t get caught in your hair or snag your skin.

In combination with other hygiene methods, the Dozzz Mulberry Silk Eye Mask helps with sleep but it can’t block out all of the annoyances. As I have pretty good sleep habits anyway, the mask really helped in the summer when the sun was up early and I would normally be woken at 5am. I’m also aware that having a silk mask on your face is also a soothing method for a lot of people who suffer with anxiety at bedtime or don’t like being in the dark. The softness of the silk is really comforting, and if you are a woman of a certain age, the silk help with pillow creases too!

I have suffered with eczema for many years, most of the time it’s under control but every now and again it flares up, with my hands and feet suffering the most. Stress seems to make it worse and when it does flare up my skin becomes very dry and itchy and can start cracking which is quite painful.
