Most of us don’t have a milkman anymore, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have real milk in real glass bottles any longer, not does it mean milk has to be boring! Tom Parker Creamery has a new range of flavoured milks including the Bedtime Milk with chamomile and lavender. Along with some of the Unhomogenised Whole Milk, Tom Parker Creamery sent us some to try out at home.
If you’re not familiar with Tom Parker Creamery’s milk, which can be found in High Street supermarkets such as Tesco and Ocado, then try their Unhomogenised Free-Range Whole Milk, which is in 750ml bottles. This unhomogenised milk has not been through as many processes which break down the fat in the milk, giving it the creamy texture it’s famous for. If you’re interested in other dairy products, Tom Parker Creamery also does creams and iced coffees which can be found on their website. We used the Unhomogenised Whole Milk for both beverages and in cooking, where the fat content is highly useful.
The Tom Parker Creamery Bedtime Milk, which comes in 500ml glass bottles, is fresh whole milk, infused with lavender and chamomile for their sleep-inducing properties. Also added are magnolia extract and valerian root, both of which also help induce sleep and relaxation. This can be drunk at night before bedtime, or as an afternoon beverage such as to make hot chocolate. I found that it actually tastes quite good in tea at any time of the day, with only a slight lavender taste to it but didn’t detract from the taste of the tea. It also made scones more interesting, especially as I was making flavoured scones. The flavour of the chamomile and lavender was very subtle in the scones, but the rich whole milk really helped the scones to turn out well.
There’s more to discover of the Tom Parker Creamery range, all in the knowledge that you’re using free-range animal products from a Hampshire based dairy.
